Yes, I've read about it a couple of days ago :) IT's very interesting and surreal... it's many lightyears wide and it would take like a billion years to get across it! We know so little about space, but it's REALLY interesting. If I werent so bad at Math/Physics, I'd get into it :P

Ahh...so in the military! I'd be constantly worried if my relatives were there...and I'm far too peaceful to go in there myself. I'm thinking of getting into Dentistry in University -- my mom is a dentist, so I guess it has a pretty big influence on my decision, though I'm not 100% sure yet so it could change anytime still!

That's nice, where do your brother and father work, exactly? I'm dreading the thought of school again...for us it starts again on September 4, so I've still got a couple of days to relax! But yeah, it's a relief to know that it's finally the last year! Kind of surreal that I'll already be an adult.

So, now I stay up until the wee hours of the morning doing excel spreadsheets! About fine CHAMPAGNE (for Algebra II; ugh..)!!

My AP reading consisted of Nectar in a Sieve, story of an Indian wife in the 50s or so, and then King Leopold's Ghost, a non-fiction novel about the Belgian Congo. Both were pretty well-written, but the latter was 400 pages long and I had to read it in a week and a half (I'm a shameless procrastinator.) When I still had the opportunity to listen to radio, though, NPR quite possibly saved my life.

AHA! Now you present me with a band that I've never heard of; Mo Rocca, what do they sound like?

Driving around in the dawn-lit morning with Explosions in the Sky (Catastrophe and the Cure) strumming out of the stereo... That's a beautiful thought. If it doesn't help you survive, you'll at least die a happy death, no?

At least your summer was long; mine was pretty decent (eight weeks, huzzah!), but I had to do an AP project about two-books with a chapter-by-chapter powerpoint. 'Twas hellish. Still, it's nice to have school start at 7:10. I actually catch the sunset now. As for Mr. Wolf, he might be a bit overrated, but his music compensates for his publicity. I suggest you gander excessively!

But lately, I haven't been able to go listen to NPR or even breathe correctly, thanks to my 5:30 awakenings for school and my midnight bedtimes. It's 1:17 on a Saturday night, and I'm working on a project for math while listening to Sigur Ros (Olsen Olsen) and Holy Fuck (Korock). GOOD MUSIC is better than caffeine, let me tell you. Then again, I also took a 5-hour nap until 9...

Lately, I've been playing a lot of things on repeat; for example, stuff by my (current) idol, Patrick Wolf. Frankly, I believe the of Montreal is a new minor messiah of music for those who are both nostalgic and unhappy and gay. They satisfy the Beatles dihards (me), the ones who listen to too much pessimistic anarchist screamo (definitely not me), and they improve the world with psycho happyness.

Breathless was the first of his films that I saw and I love it a lot, too! Also definitely a good place to start!

I have heard of it but I have yet to see it! I'll have to look into that, too! I really haven't seen much new wave outside of Godard's films but it's all really quite lovely! I would definitely check out Godard's Band of Outsiders. It was very, verrrrry good! :]

I have not seen either of those films! We usually don't get a lot of foreign films (if any!) where I live so that's where Netflix comes in handy, hah. I've been digging a lot of the nouvelle vague films as of late!

I'm sure you know of Moscow :) (Wouldn't put it against you if you knew no others). Sure, it's a nice tourist spot, but having everything plated in gold is quite repelling, believe it or not! Military service is compulsory -- 2 years (my friend has been conscripted [he lives here] becuase he still has a Russian citizenship, so he can't go back). Hooray, you make me feel slightly better for downlao

Well...we tend to stay away from the bad areas, but yeah, there are gangs and I've seen quite some violent things. Not much of a surprise though once you see how violent kids are in school/how harsh the military is. Most of my cousins love rap, but I'm sure I could get something, last time my friend bought me a Pink Floyd discography (with loads of extras) for under 5$!

Heh, I am from Russia. :P I've got relatives to visit there, so HOPEFULLY it'll be interesting! There's a lotta bootleg/underground stuff I could buy there, so I can't wait for that, haha :D I've always wanted to go to Egypt, too! But I keep coming back to Europe -- not like it's a bad thing, of course!

Heh, I feel extremely guilty all the time -- especially when I don't even support my favorite bands and am pushing 30 gb of music :P And I always make excuses as to why I don't :( Oh well. I wrote down all the artists you recommended and I'm going to download them. I'm leaving for Russia on July 29th and aren't coming back till the 22nd of August, so I'll go on a spree then!

Ha, that's awesome. Man, I haven't bought a CD in ages :( I really should support the music industry :\ Also I forgot to mention: if you haven't heard of the Dandy Warhols yet, check them out. My friend is in love with them+New Pornographers+Spoon, so you may like them too :D

Ha yeah, no kidding! All of these new bands coming out with super-awesome music, and they all have Broken Social Scene members! Haha. That show sounds awesome, by the way! Oh, I forgot to mention; check out Bright Eyes! I think they're similar, too. No I haven't heard of St. Vincent, I'll check em out too, haha

Hmm, check out Apostle of Hustle. It's a Broken Social Scene sideproject (by Andrew Whiteman) and on the same record label, it's pretty good! You might also wanna check out Spoon (they're like the New Pornographers) as well as New Buffalo (who is similar to Feist, but very hard to find an album)
