So... amidst all the hype for Daisy last year, the band did several interviews in which Jesse solidified his opinions with unmistakable clarity. I'm obviously paraphrasing, here, but he said several times how "the band is only writing music because it's what we want to do" - and how they're not in the business to deliver to anyone's expectations, or follow anyone's agenda, etc. I respect a band that utilizes that sort of mindset and liberation (instead of catering to their record label)... but it's almost like they're Too far on that side of the spectrum. It's all about a healthy balance; it should be (and definitely Is) possible for a band to write the records -they- want to write, and be their own group... without blowing off their fans entirely. It's a shame, really: if BN didn't have such a great discography and religious fan-base under their belt, their current attitude would get them nowhere. How many up-and-coming bands are as distant or callous as BN, you know? Zero.
