Hey. Saw your comment on an Ida Maria song, and directly after on a We Were Promised Jetpacks song, so I had to request you.

1) I studied human geography and the built environment undergrad. I'm now writing to you as a way of avoiding an economics essay... For my sins I'm a property developer, I'm not really sure how it happened, but I like architecture and traveling and I'm really good at sales so it was a good fit when I left university. Then the recession meant I had to have a bit of a rethink. I'd love to do literature or art when I've got a career on the go but at the moment it's a bit of an indulgence. I would have guessed literature for you to, not something so pragmatic and useful to society, I feel not quite worthy now. 2) I'm not sure what you wrote, and I'm to lazy to check. 3) Nowhere near as cool as Exit festival, which is in a castle on the Danube!

1) My understanding is that 'grad school' is the equivalent of post-graduate studies? In which case, I can feel your pain; what are you studying? 2) Depressing, self interested, intricate discussion of minor points which Orwell uses to discuss wider society. Everything I look for in a light read really. 3) Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling are playing at a festival called Hop Farm, which is really cheap (£65 I think), hopefully I'll get to that. Isle of Wight is stupidly expensive, plus the ferries get ridiculously packed and the locals can see you coming so the price for everything goes up. I study just opposite the Isle of Wight, it's very pretty (from across the water), but I think the locals are, shall we say, insular, a tight knit community.

Talk about music? Yeah? Well to be honest, I try not to plan, I just go with whatever is going on, the scene is small here, so I'll go to all the small things. London is a couple of hours away and although it's not much by North American standards travel is expensive here and I'm impoverished > Think 'Down and Out In Paris and London'. We get a lot of festivals here so I usually manage to get to some of them. I haven't seen Fargo, but I've seen Boys Don't Cry, which is based in Nebraska... ...actually maybe I'll retract the whole 'exotic' thing. But maybe yr right about the relativity of it all.

Maybe sorta? I think we call that subtlety. It comes naturally, even the citizens of our small island are BritISH, like we can't quite be sure. Where as you guys are AmeriCAN, all very positive, but without any shades of gray. I think I'm probably talking bollocks. I passed through London after my last trip to my parents. It wasn't quite as exotic as Nepal. Or even Minnesota.

1) Me neither, but that's why I don't use my real name (I do still like frosted wheats and I do think £2.40 is a lot for a pack, although I'm kind of hooked, it's the breakfast version of cocaine.) 2) half smiling is OK, I don't discriminate. 3) I figured you were either French or a really literate American (I'm willing to admit a few may exist), what were you doing in London?
