Okay, well I guess it's time to make a post about Cheap Trick because they shot up my top artists at an alarming rate. They're up there comfy with Leppard and Kiss, two bands I previously loved very hard.

Cheap Trick… let's see. If you asked me a year ago, I'd have said "Ugh, I hate Cheap Trick!" The only song Jack.FM ever plays is I Want You To Want Me (live) and I just found it lame, and repetitive, and I thought the singer sounded like a geek. Oh, how I would eat those words.

When I realised it was the same band that gave me The Flame when I was 6-years-old, sobbing and sighing over the fact it wasn't written for a girl like me, I pulled an about face. I was very intrigued by the fact I could have such a love/hate relationship for a band. I didn't know much else about them. So I humoured myself. I did some research. Like Kiss, their popularity exploded with a live album, ironically with no hits to their name. Another very intriguing concept! That very song that made me yell obscenities to my radio, was on that very album.

Engaging in a bit of a power ballad phase, I downloaded "The Flame" from iTunes. And listened to it several times a day ever since. Since my love translates equally well visually, I YouTubed for the video, and fell head-over-heels in love with Robin Zander…

I haven't the time to be shallow! I picked up Heaven Tonight from a discount bin and enjoyed it so much, I requested a hits package for Christmas. I haven't looked back, really. It's been a joy delving deeper into their discography. Their music is a lot of fun. It's full of personality and energy. I'm not really into innovation and all things hip these days, so I like a band I can be nerdy with. My only regret is that I didn't get into them sooner, that way I wouldn't have missed them play when they were in Ontario last summer.

Favourite album? Well, so far I'm really into Dream Police and I'm digging on In Color at the moment. Favourite songs include California Man, If You Want My Love, She's Tight, He's a Whore, Tonight It's You, You're All Talk, Dream Police… the usual suspects.
