N°V May
The hills are alive with the sound of failed N. Korean rocket launches and Titanic redux… I know it doesn’t rhyme but I mentioned them because it fit my album artwork for this month. I’ve not seen the Titanic movie in years but now people have the chance of reliving the tragedy all over again in 3D. Who could forget that iconic scene where they made that distress call after they realised that their ‘unsinkable’ ship was headed for disaster after they hit that iceberg? Personally, I’d rather watch Julie Andrews prancing on a hillside singing about hills and logs praying but that’s just me. And speaking go distress calls, putting up this month’s playlist proved to be a bit problematic. It all started with the choice of which song makes the cut out of around 80+ songs. Then there were encoding problems and other mishaps that almost felt like it was all a chore and not the creative outlet that I originally intended this project to be. But, that’s all behind me now the only thing that matt…

N°V April
I've been looking forward to posting this month's playlist because it's an extra special playlist because of two things. My friend, Pancit made a very gorgeous cover befitting the contents of this month's playlist and I'm so glad I asked him to do it. It started last month when I asked my friend, Mia if I could use one of her artworks for my March playlist and so Pancit volunteered to do the April one and I must say that I am quite ecstatic with how it turned out. Gotta love it when you have plenty of artistic friends to do stuff for you for free! I do hope you enjoy this month's playlist. I've been playing it non-stop and it's my current fave (I know, I always say that!) It's also worth mentioning that a big chunk of the artists featured on this month's playlist are from the land down under. I didn't include any cover songs this month and most of the songs are fairly recent. I'll keep this short because I have to get back to the real world and do some boring 'grown up' stuff . See y…

N°V March
Another month done and it’s time for a new playlist! I have to say that this month’s playlist was a tug of war of sorts. I originally planned to make a perky and blissful set of music but soon as I started with my opener, Ágætis Byrjun — the mood went into a different direction. I don’t know if you’ve noticed (not that anyone cares), but there are a few prerequisites/staples in my playlists - 1. A beautiful cover song of which is equal or sometimes even better than the original. 2. An instrumental track which I use as a ‘palate rinser’ to cross from one section and usher in the next. 3. Finally, there has to be a song done by a French artist - it’s a must. That’s my blueprint. Anyway, as I was trying to do my short list of songs and adding more upbeat tracks, it just didn’t seem to meld with the rest of the set, so I said, fuck it and just let the music take me where it wanted to go. The result is a full-on downtempo playlist which I have to say is my favourite of the lot (so far). …

N°V February
Outrageous slogans - We’ve all seen them. The all-new-all-improved-better-than-your-grandmother’s-and-a-must-have-that-you-just-have-to-get-right-this-very-second. So many fantastic claims until you read the fine print - the product/model was enhanced and altered beyond recognition that she has stepped into the realm of science fiction. That’s how I feel about love. Sometimes it just fails to live up to my expectations. Since February has been dubbed the ‘Love’ month, I’ve put together a playlist with the many faces of love. I originally planned a list of songs with the word ‘love’ in all of the titles then after kicking myself on the head for coming up with too literal an idea, this is what I finally came up with. We have the the naive ingénue (My Love, F*cking Boyfriend), The jilted ex (Skinny Love, Bleeding All Over You), the stalker (Password), the desperate housewife (Better Man} and the courtesan (Love For Sale). We have a Prince followed by a Queen, heck, we even have an appea…

N°V January
This is my N°V (pronounced "numero veh") playlist for the new year and the theme for January is ‘Spectrum’. It’s a spectrum of sonic bliss - from the highs of the idea of the new year to the lows on the realisation that it’s all illusory because after all, we’re just going on a linear progression through space-time (but that’s another story!). 2012 is also a significant marker for the Mayans. Now whether or not we all end up going to hell in a hand basket in 12 months or if it’s all a fluke is anyone’s guess. One thing I know at least is we’ll have some good music. So, for whatever it’s worth, have a fantastic 2012! N°V January is equal parts fun, chill with a dash of cheeky bits added for good measure. Enjoy! xxx -V- Go to http://fyrincarnate.tumblr.com/ to download the music.
