Day 01 – Your favorite song

Picking a favorite song was tough, but this was the clear winner. Something about this song, particularly this version, just resonates within me. The change in meter and tonality creates contrasting moods and interesting effects for me as the listener, along with lyrics that tug at my heart. This song never gets old for me, even if I'm not in a Dave Matthews mood.
Day 02 – Your least favorite song

Now, I love country music. The genre defined the majority of my childhood years before N*SYNC and Backstreet Boys. However, this song is complete garbage and is, frankly, what's wrong with modern country music. This song along with other gems such as "I Wanna Talk About Me" make me cringe and miss the early days of Toby Keith. Surprise, surprise, he was actually more charming with a mullet back in the days of "He Ain't Worth Missing" and "Should've Been a Cowboy". Not all of his more recent work is worthless, at least, but this song will never have a home in my music library.

There are plenty of songs that make me happy, but there's just something about this one that's so damn catchy; I can't help singing along and when I do I always feel like I'm in a better mood because of it. Also, it's on the soundtrack for Center Stage, and I love that movie…so yeah…
Day 04 – A song that makes you sad

Avenue Q is my favorite musical, and within the mix of hilarious tunes is this number, "There's a Fine, Fine Line". This song is really the epitome of heart ache and that awkward time in relationship limbo. I feel like everyone can relate to this song in some respect, and it just elicits such sadness. "I guess if someone doesn't love you back, it isn't such a crime. But there's a fine, fine line between love and a waste of your time". Runner up: "The Freshman" by Verve Pipe
Day 05 – A song that reminds you of someone

Andy, I decided to pick a song that reminds me of you since you're probably the only person who reads this. First, I'm pretty sure you were the one who legitimately got me into Lady Antebellum. Second, this song reminds me of you because of that night in Deer Park. Emily had introduced me to "Need You Now" at the beginning of the semester, but like with many of her songs-of-the-week, I didn't pay much mind. So when the remix of "Need You Now" came on, I remember starting to sing along although I couldn't quite recall how I knew the words. Then, you were all excited, "You listen to Lady Antebellum?!?" and not knowing if I did or not, I was just like "Yeah…". Great story, right? Well, now I love Lady A and you were a big factor in that musical discovery.
Day 06 – A song that reminds of you of somewhere

At Lake Greeley Camp there's only one way to celebrate a birthday: playing the Disney Birthday Song at dinner. The person(s) with the birthday would normally be serenaded by the whole camp and receive cake for their entire cabin. Sounds glorious, right? Well, when played the right number of times during the day, this song will make you want to shove spoons into your ears. On the last day of camp, they played this song literally 10 times in a loop. Time has healed the wound; now this song makes me think fondly of Lake Greeley Camp
Day 07 – A song that reminds you of a certain event

While this is not my favorite song by The Beatles, it will forever hold a special place in my heart. As part of band tradition, the UDMB finishes every football game with this song. As we sway and sing together, we're reminded of the family that we have with UDMB and you can take a second to remember all of the people that have been a part of your life. Particularly, this song makes me think of my last home game with the UDMB and how emotional the whole experience was.

Here is another story in the saga of Emily & Dena. Freshman year, one of the guys blared this from his room, and Emily declared that she had never heard this song. So after playing it again, this song became a regular on our room playlist and we learned the words. Learning all of the words to this song was not an easy task; it took quite a lot of work and dedication, but we're now competent performers of this song and probably explains a few poor test scores in organic chem.

Another segment in the Emily & Dena saga. Judge all you want. Having been roommates for nearly 3 years, Emily and I have developed some rituals. One of said rituals is the Bed Time Song. The Bed Time Song can be any song, generally an upbeat song, and in this case, the Bed Time Song is accompanied by the Bed Dance. If you've never seen the Bed Dance…well, too bad, you're probably never going to see it. The Bed Dance, as you may have figured, is performed while in bed, specifically, while laying down in bed.

Personally, I think this song is beautiful. Priscilla Ahn has a lovely voice and this song really showcases her talent. Also, this song is just chill enough to fall asleep to, which is saying something, since I usually can't fall asleep to music

Over the past few weeks I've found that I haven't really been in the mood for Maroon 5, but I still love them. I also really enjoy their cover of Pure Imagination; it's quite trippy.

Day 13 – A song that is a guilty pleasure

I expect nothing but judgment from this selection. Without considering the fact that this cover is from Glee, the song itself is excellent. I consider this to be my Summer '10 song. What makes me happy? Driving in my car, with this song blasting, and singing along. Generally, I do this by myself, but few have witnessed this semi-public singing event.

Wait a minute… A Perfect Circle… they're kinda heavy for my musical standards, right? Well, yes. This is one of those songs that has followed me from early high school. Just one of those songs that a friend of mine, Chris, gave me saying, "Here, I really like this song, you might too". Being the musical sponge I am, I adopted it as my own and it's been in my music library ever since.
