this was something i loved to do in high school, kind of forgot about the past year and a half, and then rediscovered while i was supposed to be studying for finals this week:

playlists. not just any playlists, though. playlists with THEMES.
here's what you do.

1. find a song you really like. like REALLY like. like enough to form an entire playlist around it. the song i chose, obviously, was my 20,000th song (We Better Learn To Hotwire a Uterus).

2. come up with a playlist that could be formed that would include that song. i chose "roe v. wade: THE PLAYLIST!"

3. go through your music library and choose every song that would possibly fit that playlist title. i chose songs like this is not what you had planned, the great golden baby, and no children. have fun with this. it's the best part.

4. cut down the tracks in the playlist so that it's under an hour and a half. this is the hardest part. usually it's easiest to cut songs you don't really like, songs that are really long, or songs that are by artists with another song already on the playlist. sometimes your playlist is so obscure you don't have to cut anything.

5. put the tracks in a clever order (or just shuffle. whatevz)

6. listen.

it's way satisfying. here are some examples of other playlists i've made this week whilst procrastinating:

includes songs like: burn piano island and cinders

"ELEMENTARY SCHOOL"
based on the song: strawberry milk
includes songs like: sandbox, young and aspiring, and i know you are but what am i?

"JESUS CHRIST: SUPERSTAR!"
based on the song: asleep in the chapel
includes songs like: i'll believe in anything, jesus walks, and anything jesus does, i can do better

"MARIE ANTOINETTE IN 15 SONGS OR LESS"
based on the song: queen bitch
includes songs like: to hell with poverty!, eat cake, and off with their heads!

"THE WORST WAYS TO DIE"
based on the song: killed by fuck
includes songs like: asthma attack, drain the blood, and mayonnaise

- we sail today (take you on a cruise)
- that's not even a real word (murderotica)
- the afterlife (the ghost with the most)
- war all the time (atoms for peace)
- sex/the city (the morning after and NY snow globe)
- pokémon: gotta catch 'em all! (who wants to fight?)

and many more. srsly im gonna fail french.
