For Englisch-Version - scrawl down!

Endlich wieder Stemwede. Nach drei jähriger Abstinenz schaffe ich es endlich wieder zum Stemwede Open Air. Mein Weg führt mich Mitte August in das Dreieck zwischen Vechta, Minden und Osnabrück, gleich hinter den Dümmer. Hier geht übrigens gerade in diesen Festivaltagen mehr als sich vielleicht der geneigte Berliner oder Hamburger vorstellen
mag, wenn ihm diese metropoligen Städte Namen zu Ohren kommen ;-).
Über den Camping/Parkplatz der 32. (!) Auflage dieses prestigeträchtigen Umsonst und Draußen Festivals geht es vorbei am Verpflegungsangebot und der, eher unbekannteren Bands vorbehaltenen, Wiesenbühne über einen kleinen Waldweg, der in eine Lichtung mündet, zur Waldbühne.
Gesäumt von Bier- und Merchandiseständen spielen hier heute am Samstag neben vielen anderen großartigen Bands wie KIEMSA oder Mediengruppe Telekommander unsere Übersee Schützlinge von ABUELA COCA als Headliner um kurz vor ein Uhr nachts. Je später die Stunde desto mehr merkt man, dass sich der Sommer leider in seinen letzten Zügen befindet und die Hitze des Tages nicht mehr in die dunkle Tageshälfte hinüber retten kann. Aber was hilft denn besser gegen akute Erfrierungsgefahr, als ein kühler halber Liter und eine erstklassige LatinoSKAhiphopMURGAreggaeROCK Show von Brown und seinen Mannen vom Rio de la Plata ? Richtig … gar nichts!
Das haben auch gut 1500 andere Leute verstanden, folgen Browns Aufforderung „Vamos a la Fiesta …“ und es werden ordentlich die Hufe geschwungen, die Hüften gekreist, mit dem Kopf genickt oder komplett willenlos durchgedreht. Die Band aus den drei Us auf engstem Raum spielt sich durch die Hits ihrer beiden Alben „El ritmo del Barrio“ (UER010) und „El Cuarto de la abuela“ (UER023), wie „Mala Herencia“, „Mambru“ oder das wunderbare „Santa Soledad“, bei dem es als Zugabe dann auch das allseits beliebte Alle-nach-unten- und-dann-wieder-hoch-Spiel gibt.
Nach Ende des Konzertes steht die Band noch ausführlich Rede und Antwort am Merchstand und verabschiedet sich erst als die Sonne schon wieder über den Horizont klettert, von der Lichtung des Geschehens.
Die Band feierte fast genau vor einem Jahr mit einem doppel Konzert in ihrer Heimatstadt Montevideo ihr 15-jähriges bestehen und was bleibt es mir da anderes übrig als ein wenig abgedroschen aber doch mindestens genauso erfolgreiche und furiose 15 weitere Jahre zu wünschen ;-)

Finally, it's Stemwede-time again. After three long years of abstinence I made it to Stemwede Open Air again. The prestigous city of Stemmwede is somewhere between Vechta, Minden and Osnabrück, right after Dümmer in Northern Germany. People from Berlin or Hamburg would be amazed to see what's happening around here these days – especially after hearing these infamous metropolises of Northrein-Westfalia ;-)
Passing by the campsite and parking-lot of the 32nd (!) edition of this prestigous free Open Air festival, the catering-stands, and the lawn-stage that sports some rather unknown bands. My way leads me on to a small path through the woods where the forest-stage is set on a big clearance.
The stage is lined by beer- and merchandise stands. I'm exited to see great bands like KIEMSA or Mediengruppe Telekommander and our Übersee labelmates from ABUELA COCA as headliner at around 1 a.m. this saturday. The later is gets the more you get the impression that summer is coming to an end and that the heat of the day is barely conserving some of it's power for the darker side of the day. So, what's the best the receipe against the chills? A nice pint of beer and a great mix of LatinoSKAhiphopMURGAreggaeROCK by Brown and his men from the Rio de la Plata! Right, that'll do it!
That's excactly what some 1500 people also thought as they follow Brown's words: „Vamos a la Fiesta“! Hips are shook, feet shuffled, heads nodded and some plain freak out completely. The band from where 3 Us meet in a small word offers a great trip through the hits of their albums „El Ritmo del Barrio“ (UER010) and „El Cuarto de la Abuela“ (UER023). „Mala Herencia“, „Mambru“ or the wondeful encore „Santa Soledad“ where they celebrate the well-liked everyboy-get-down-and-up-ritual.
After the show the band is openly chatting with the audience at the merch-stand and leave the site just as the sun is crawling up on the horizon again in the woods of Stemmwede.
The band put on a great show and partied almost as hard as for the double-show in Montevideo for their 15-year anniversary last year. It may sound a little cheasy but I wish them yet another successfull and fun 15 years ;-)
