Tylky's 2009 (Part 3)

1. Meat Loaf - Dead Ringer For Love
The ballad for seeing some across the table in a café/restaurant and thinking they're 'fit' but you don't know who they are. Man, how many times have I been in this scenario before? Great song though, it just makes you wanna rock out and have fun!
Originally a #5 hit in November 1981.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy_XrSLG4gg

2. Status Quo - Down Down
My love of Status Quo has grown recently, especially when I got their 'Pictures' album. This song just makes me wanna rock out, this helped me through the split of Marina and I.
Originally a #1 hit in December 1974.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNPJuJSVmNA

3. Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant
The song my friend Rug (Matt) had chosen at random for his music video project. He couldn't stand the song, which added hilarity to the scenario. In the end, he made a great masterpiece with the song and I think he's gonna get a good grade with it, congrats Rug!
Originally a #6 hit in July 1977.

4. Barenaked Ladies - One Week
Discovered this great tune on a 90's compilation album. I think it's off a film or show but I can't remember what. For some reason, Shrek comes into my head… But still, a good tune!
Originally a #5 hit in February 1999.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPo9ISQpzvM

5. The Rembrandts - I'll Be There For You
The official 'Friends' theme tune. Also found on the 90's compilation album. I've also watched alot of Friends throughout this year, despite it ending 5 years ago. But man, what a tune!
Originally a #3 hit in September 1995.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJRAnlPSKaw&feature=related

6. John Siegler & John Loeffler - Pokémon Theme
We all know this one. Pokémon has been huge for my friends and I this year (yes, I'm a Pokégeek) due to Platinum being released. I also started watching the TV series again, out of interest. Feel free to call me a geek anytime.

7. Journey - Don't Stop Believin'
Something from recent times. An awesome power ballad to round the year (and decade) up as a whole. Please, have a listen.
Originally a #62 hit in 1982 but charted at #19 in November 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNB1EUJg1-w

8. Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)
The song I had chosen at random for my music video project. It contained alot of flashing lights and Ronald McDonald, so beware!
Originally a #11 hit in May 1986.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di60NYGu03Y

9. The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
The song my friend Sean had chosen at random for his music video project. The lip sync he did for it was both amazing and hilarious. Imagine a cartoon mouth saying 'When I wake up' in a Scottish accent. You'll laugh.
Originally a #11 hit in August 1988.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM0sTNtWDiI

10. The Contours - Do You Love Me
The official theme tune which got Marina and I together back in March this year. This is 'our song'.
Originally a #76 hit in June 1988.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x43vK0k6A2I

11. Dionne Bromfield - Mama Said
One of the more recent songs, Amy Winehouse's God daughter has made a tune which is very retro yet awesome. At only 13, you wouldn't think she could sing such a great song!
Originally a #43 hit in October 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umpV2oWoY34

12. Pixie Lott - Boys and Girls
Sounds very similar to Rihanna's 'Shut Up and Drive', this jazzy/Pop piece is an awesome tune with the beautiful Pixie Lott.
Originally a #1 hit in September 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWFp4KcMJsQ

13. Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love
Cheryl's first solo single away from the girls and it's a masterpiece, doing the double with a #1 single and album I think she deserves a round of applause… but wait, what's this? Rumours are that this song sampled Kelis' 'Lil Star'… what do you think?
Originally a #1 hit in October 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMiy_UsrPDs

14. Paramore - Ignorance
Is ignorance your new best friend? This song, being Paramore's highest charting hit in the UK has had a massive effect to a variety of audiences across the map. Great song.
Originally a #14 hit in September 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJipy8ApsxY

15. Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage
Dick Valentine. Vocalist of this group. Rape face. If you don't believe me, have a look for yourself.
Originally a #2 hit in January 2003.

16. MIKA - We Are Golden
Ignoring the video, this song is a great comeback for Popmeister Mika. Why does it, that all of his songs make you smile?
Originally a #4 hit in September 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WknXCcVThI

17. Cuban Boys - Cognoscenti vs Intelligentsia
The hamster dance with a pop twist. Throughout the year, I've had a fascination with the millennium and the end of the decade coming closer and closer. Does anyone remember what the internet looked like back in late '99/early 2000?
Originally a #4 hit in December 1999.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW9yZhU9ytk <- Original
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXJ5oaU940U <- Music Video in the UK (My Country)

18. James "D Train" Williams & Babi Floyd - PokéRAP
Omanyte! Slowpooooke. The best rap, ever. Can you remember all 150 Pokémon?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlw1FpOCEfo

19. Paul Young - Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)
Back during the summer of this year, Marina and I went to a disco, and this was the last song of the evening. It was only me and her on the dancefloor, doing a slow dance to this beautiful song.
Originally a #1 hit in June 1983.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywoHBGS_DnQ

20. Louis Armstrong - We Have All The Time In The World
My grandfather passed away earlier this year, and Louis' hit 'What A Wonderful World' was playing. Since I don't have that song, this song is just as good to be placed on this album. R.I.P. Grandad.
Originally a #3 hit in November 1994.

…And that is my 2009. Feel free to comment!
