Chris McNaughton from Atavist is one of the guys behind Winterfylleth, don't know if you know them but they are merchants of extreme doom!

Nah I was pretty regular about making sure I moved my data to an external harddrive, so far as movies, music, and pictures went. What sucks is the 3 months of programming work I can't get to now. The drive is still good but HP changes connectors for just about every model. I've seen all kinds of widgets and sidebar programs for years, I guess Micro$oft decided to play catch up. What you will hate the most about Vista is a thing called User Access Control. Everytime you try to install something new, uninstall something, look at the Program Files folder, Windows folder, hell even trying to change the Date/Time will make your screen go black and that thing pops up! Despite everything I really like the "glass" interface. Circadian Rhythm was a great album! Never did hear the other one though.

Yeah I got a new laptop. I was hoping I could swap the old harddrive in and recover some stuff I had on it but they're different ;) Not sure I care for Vista too much though it looks nice and has spiffy features, but I really like having a widescreen. [artist]Believer[/artist] - I think they were the first band to start what [artist]Therion[/artist] got right. I think your description for [artist]Sui Generis Umbra[/artist] is right one - they're definitely bizarre ;)

Sorry to hear you won't be at the show, but I'll definately let you know how it was when I get home Sunday night. Not sure I've heard Omniscient, but I'll check them out. Have fun, horns up!!!!

Variety is key. I think that's one reason that avant-garde metal seems to have a growing hold on me. I had forgotten about Killing Joke - I didn't even know there where still around. I think the last of anything I heard from them was the early 90's, so I'll have to check into the newer stuff.

Oh yeah, good ole [artist]Anacrusis[/artist], a couple of those I ripped from cassette tape. Anacrusis was actually more listened to on here than I thought they would be. I had heard one song 'Terrified' on a compilation many many years ago and for years that was the only song by them I had every heard. It took me almost 15 years to get all of their albums. And now you can download everyone of them for free on their website. I suppose I could download them to replace the cassette quality versions I have. I don't listen to power metal as much as I used to, but back in the day I loved [artist]Angel Dust[/artist], and I've kept up with them over the years.

Yeah, it's funny how the reset affected the tastometer but not my charts or playcount. I think I'm actually halfway through the A's now after three weeks. I never realized I had so much music that started with A, I can only imagine hot long it would take to listen to the T's, what with all of the bands whose name begins with THE.

ha ha! Well, I have not been lucky enought to see them live yet, not sure when were here last? Maybe they will get over to tour this album? Cheers!

Nah I'm still in the A's but I realised that I had incorrectly organized some of those numerals by alphabet - so I'm actually backtracking. Also realized I'm not as organized as I thought. I don't use anything special to rip vinyl or my cassettes. I took an old pair of headphones and cut the ear pieces off. Then wired that directly into the speaker outputs of an old record player and/or tape deck, and the jack plugs into either the line-in or microphone on my computer. I use sound recorder to record the audio as wav files and then use Audacity (free software) to do some basic cleanup and conversion to mp3. And MP3tag (free) does the tagging for me. It can query freedb, discogs, Amazon, and the german Amazon; so it almost finds everything, plus it accepts foreign characters which is a bonus. And if it can't find it I end up looking the album up and editing the id3 tags by hand.

Yeah I estimate at least several year at the rate I'm going. I've converted all of my cds, most of my cassettes, and even some old records to mp3. All total my music library spans two hardrives, a 320GB and a 250GB. The 250 is only about a third full though. The reset thing and playcount is indeed a bug. It's a known bug that they apparently don't want to hear about again :( Ah man I fell in love with DSO a little over a year ago. I finally had to quit listening to Butcher's Ballroom because it was dominating all of my charts. I mentioned interest in the cello parts and the cello player sent me some sheetmusic - how cool is that? There was a bulletin on myspace a little over half a year ago that they would be set to release a new album sometime this year - I can't wait to hear it.

Yeah that's how my cd showed up, but I did download one album off a blog site and it scrobbled as Tyr which is some sort of hip/hop or something. Funny how so many pirates can't figure out their tags. I may have to download the Runic fonts and switch mine over just to be extra cool, lol.

Bummer dude. He's playing in Atlanta tonight. I don't have a job at the moment but my old gf is taking me as a late b-day. She introduced me to Voltaire years ago. Went and saw Meshuggah and Ministry last Friday, and saw a band called Pelican Saturday. Real good shows they were.
