Do you remember when you asked me whether or not I had an idea what one of the pictures included in my group depicted? I am not sure if you do, but the picture with those flying mountains in it was taken from a film entitled ‘The Holy Mountain’ (1926) which was directed by Arnold Franck. Greetings.

I have. It's really pretty awesome. They set it in North America to get it through the censors but it's so obviously anti-Soviet. I read it in one sitting. I've not actually read any Tarkovsky! I only know Solaris and Stalker. Should brush up. Also yeah I was the co-admin with Hipster Garabe but I guess I just got fed up of the 'irony' and the decline of the group as a social hub. ie I can't remember the last time anyone chatted about music properly. New members didn't contribute (and I can understand why, the shoutbox was/is way too cliquey).

hey, you liked my release a year ago as Dirigible Spoon. I thought you might be interested to know I've released a new EP together with a friend under the name Skeleton Zoo. We're aiming for a more surreal, dreamy and beat-driven sound. you can listen/download here: http://skeletonzoo.bandcamp.com

You have a kickass overall top tracks. Some artists you may like that don't see in your library are Frozen Silence; tracks - "Childhood", "Nightingale", Nyctalgia; tracks - "Time changed everything", "Falling into nothingness", July Skies; tracks - "Waiting to land", "Southern Orchards", and perhaps some work by Saltillo - tracks: "Giving in", "A necessary end", Au4 - tracks: "A mile from here", "Everything always moving", The National - "Exile Vilify", and also the artists "Eluvium" and "Hammock"... Now time to dig into a bunch of artists i've never heard of from your lists!

I had in mind 'Sculpting in Time', but there was also another release of a book dealing with Tarkovsky - 'The Tolstoy Complex'. But unfortunately I have had no opportunity to read it yet. As of the aforementioned 'Sculpting in Time', I consider this book as an interesting one. Tarkovsky himself included there some thoughts on art, especially on film. He recited there also different stories, some explanations about his films. I think you would appreciate it.

Please forgive, for I don't know what the origin of these pictures is. I took them all from Tumblr, yet I don't remember exactly from which accounts :( ///// http://sufferingastrid.tumblr.com/ - this is my own Tumblr account. If you were interested what the pictures included there depict, I will tell you right away. Take care.

i was borin in russia before moving to the US. :) For Kar-Wai Wong, Fallen Angels could be a fun place to start, or Chungking Express. I'd say Fallen Angels, it has really great colors and is quite pretty in general. I am less versed in Kurosawa, but I guess Rashomon would make sense. Btw, if you can find Teshigahara's Woman in the Dunes, try that, it's like my favorite japanese movie ever.

im also glad i can watch his movies without subtitles, because the translations for, like, the poetry sections in zerkalo just don't sound as fantastic when translated.

i've seen everything but nostalgia and the sacrifice. i really love his work, but he is probably my 2nd favorite director after mr.Bergman

'Stalker' and 'Nostalghia' - these two films are the Absolute. Having watched them, I knew I'd just experienced the Truth itself. Since that moment, my perception of the reality has changed completely ///// Have you read any of Tarkovsky's book?

oh yes, wild strawberries. good bergman film, though i'd say his religion trilogy, persona, and fanny and alexander are his best.
