Disappointingly, John's set was pretty much the same as last year, consisting mainly of fairly pedestrian stand-up and just two classic numbers; 'Beasley Street' (with sequel 'Beasley Boulevard') and 'Chickentown.' Several audience requests were turned down with the excuse that 'I can't remember them.'

Nevertheless newer material such as 'Hire Car', 'Things Are Getting Worse' and the hilarious 'Bongo's Trousers' are well worth a listen and it's always an honour simply to be in the presence of such a legend.

Some new material and some more classics from his fine fine back catalogue would be nice next time though.
