I'll check it out. Heard good things about Danny Brown's new one from my friend. What do you think about it?

I wish I had good recs to give you haha. I haven't been listening to new music at all really. Probably listened to 3-4 albums from 2016 so far and that's it. I need to up my game but I'm lazy. As far as older stuff, I've been listening to a lot of 90s post-hardcore/noise rock stuff like Slint, Unwound, June of 44, and Polvo. Idk if you'd dig that kind of stuff (or maybe you already listen to those bands!) but that's mostly what I've been digging lately. And Built to Spill too!

Hey just so you know, I used Last.fm's new "reply" functionality so if you don't see a shout here it's because I replied in my own shoutbox? Idk how it works but I don't think I got a notification when you shouted me but I figure you check your page like I do so ya

I'm diggin the Tame Impala too! I think I downloaded that Ducktails, I'll have to listen one of these days. And I will check out Wolf Alice as well. I think I heard something else about them recently. I myself have really been liking the Cloud Nothings/Wavves collab. It's like 22 minutes long, so I've already listened to it a bunch of times. It's just a bunch of super short, super catchy tunes. Really great record imo.

Oooh thanks for the rec, I'll definitely give it a listen!! My radio station at school had a copy of the Tobias Jesso Jr. album you told me about and I added it to my iTunes. Haven't given it a listen yet but I'll make sure to do that too.

I was never big into Fleet Foxes because I thought they were boring the first few times I listened to them. I bet I'd like them now if I ever gave them a shot, but anyways, Father John Misty is the drummer from Fleet Foxes I think? At any rate, the album is good. You should check it out if you haven't already!

As far as stuff I've been listening to, it's really the same old. I don't even think I listened to 20 albums from 2014, and I know I've listened to even less from 2015. I remember when I used to listen to over a hundred new albums a year... I don't even think that I like music any less than I used to, it's just that I don't have time to listen to it as much I guess? But it's not even that, because I have a bunch of free time that I waste on the internet or Netflix or whatever. I really want to get back into intensive music listening but I wouldn't even know where to start. I just have so many favorite artists now that I'm too lazy to try anything new. Anyway, I was hanging with a friend the other day and he played a couple Darkside songs which I thought were dope, so I listened to their album and I like it a lot. We also listened to Andy Stott's album Faith in Strangers, which was weird but pretty good. I really like Father John Misty's new album.

Sorry for the late reply, I was just on spring break and I've been lazy as hell with replying to people on here haha. Yeah, BBNG's really great. A friend introduced me to them a few months ago and I dig em a lot. I totally agree with you on the new album. I only listened to a few songs off of it so far I think, but most of the time I found myself wishing there was no rapping or vocals at all and that the tracks were all just instrumental. I like that they tried something new, though. Dude, I need to listen to Dan Deacon. I've seen his name around for years and he's always been recommended to me, but I haven't just sat down and listened to his stuff yet. I will definitely check out his new album. Yeah, no problem! El Pintor is great. I saw Interpol back in August right before I went back to school, and they're playing in St. Louis in May (albeit a week after finals end) so I'm kinda hoping to catch them again if I can. Hopefully I'll find a friend who's staying over the summer.

yeah I get em now, I was just expecting it to sound more like Kool's music rather than something on its own. I'll check out Heems' album

Yes, Atlas is seriously my AOTY right now. I mean, granted, I haven't listened to more than like fifteen records from 2014, but still! Let me know how you like the Interpol album. Reception seems to be mixed from fans but generally favorable from critics, not that I give a shit about what critics think. I think the album is pretty freakin good though. Some of my other friends have told me to listen to the new Alt-J... I should really get on that. Maybe tonight. I've never listened to their debut but I heard a song from it on a commercial and thought it was really good (good enough to search on the internet, at least). Yes, definitely check out St. Vincent! I went from being totally indifferent towards her to really loving her. Admittedly, I even read up on the gossip about her love life... Seriously though, check out Strange Mercy if nothing else. I listened to it a few times and thought, 'Eh, it's alright,' and then it hit me all at once. It's phenomenal. Her new record is great too.

Hey! Haven't heard from you in quite some time :P I'm still listening to the same old--The National, Real Estate... I got more into St. Vincent recently, especially Strange Mercy. Great record! As far as upcoming releases go, one word: Iceage. I'm so stoked for their album after hearing "The Lord's Favorite," which I think is fantastic, and now "Forever," which is also great. I think my charts are still 'perfect' because I haven't listened to anything new, ha. Caribou never impressed me too much in the past, but not too long ago I had a thought that I should give his stuff another try. I'll check for that new album and give it a listen when I can, and same with ODESZA. Don't know how you feel about Interpol, but I think their new album is really solid. Other than that, I've been so lazy with music lately that I wouldn't know any new good artists. Hoping you can throw me some more recs to put on my list. I still haven't caught up with all the albums I want to listen to.

I'll make sure to check them out! I should probably re-visit some of the previous recs you've given me, too. I think I'm gonna listen to that Princess Chelsea album again tonight, actually. That shit was fantastic. And by the way, I really liked that Moderat album, so thank you for that recommendation as well! Did you listen to their first record? I think 'II' is definitely superior.

I really dug that Secede album you rec'd me. Some real good stuff there. And someone else told me I should listen to that Moderat album too so I'll definitely make sure to check it out. Thanks!

Alright, I downloaded it and will listen soon! Yeah, I definitely think I'm into the more chill electronic music that verges on ambient rather than the dance-y stuff. I'll definitely check out Tycho soon too, thanks! I didn't get a chance to listen to Princess Chelsea until now, but holy jesus, this is GOOD. Waaaaaaay better than what I remember of Joanna Newsom's stuff (no offense though if you really like Joanna). The melodies are awesome... super magical and whimsical, almost reminds me of like Final Fantasy or Alice in Wonderland or something. I can't explain it haha. I dig the vocals too, and the album cover perfectly fits her style of music!! Super awesome rec, I guarantee I'll be coming back to it.

I was curious about that Deafheaven record... I didn't want to try it because I thought it was all hype, but if it's actually good, I'll give it a listen. Oh okay, cool, I'll give Princess Chelsea a try too! I hope your comparison of her music to Joanna Newsom's is just in the music and not the vocals, though. Sorry, but I really can't stand Joanna's voice haha.

Whoa, that song is beautiful! Did you get the new 'proper' rip of Boc Maxima from What? I had the old transcode version which wasn't anything spectacular, but apparently the better sound quality from the cassette rip really kicks it up a notch! I'll have to listen and see what I think. And thank you so much for the recs, I'll definitely check them out! Another person had recently recommended Immunity to me... just listened to it, and it's fantastic. I'm really starting to like electronic music. I hadn't been a fan until recently, but BoC made the genre grow on me a lot. As for what I've been listening to, nothing much new. Just BoC and other random stuff. I've been busy this summer so I haven't had time to find any good new artists. I don't know if you've been to this website before, but I think it's a good resource to see the aggregate scores of new releases throughout the year in case you wanna know what's been rated highly: http://www.albumoftheyear.org/ratings/overall/2013/.

So I've been listening to Wise Blood, trying really hard to get into his new album, and though I think it's good, it didn't click much with me. Then I finally remembered that I downloaded one of his old EPs too, and duuuude, These Wings is really good!! I actually like it a lot more than his new record. But I have to admit that the opening track on i.d. is fantastic. Anyway, now that it's been like a month since I last shouted you, I'm curious if you've been listening to any good new music lately. I trust your recs and I'm open to some more of them haha.

I was going to send you another shout when I had listened to Pacific Air's album a couple more times, but I've been busy this week so I haven't listened to much of anything at all. Sorry haha. I didn't think they were too cheesy! Their songs were nice and catchy but I felt like they were a little generic... the album was still solid, though, and I'll be giving it some more listens. I'll try out Wise Blood today if I get the chance! And I always appreciate recommendations, so never hesitate to give me some :)

Nope, never heard of them. I'm grabbing their record right now, though, so I'll give it a listen soon. Haha thanks... if I continue listening to BoC at the rate I am, they'll be my top artist in no time. But I can't help it. I've become addicted.

Ooh, now I'll definitely have to listen to that album and see what I think about it. At this point I pretty much feel like they can do no wrong, so I'm certain I'll enjoy it. I'm glad I got into them recently because now I have all this great new music to listen to and I didn't even have to deal with eight years of anticipation! And the new record will most definitely be awesome campfire music. I listened to it the other day when I was taking a walk on a deserted mountain and it was the perfect soundtrack for that.

Nice, that's good that you like it!! How do you think it compares to their other records? From what I've read, people seem to be liking it more than The Campfire Headphase. I haven't listened to that record yet, though, so I can't say. Anyway, I'm diggin' the new album. I definitely gotta give it some more listens to let the songs sink in, but the first track to really stand out to me was Nothing is Real. Soooo good. Jacquard Causeway is awesome too.

No, I hadn't seen that, very cool!! Their new record comes out in June? Looks like I'm getting into them at a good time! That's pretty awesome, especially considering they haven't released an album since 2005. 2013 seems to be the year for band reunions, I suppose. And I listened to Geogaddi! Awesome album, I think I enjoyed it even more than Music has the Right to Children. I'll definitely have to listen to it more to pick specific favorite songs out and all that, but on a first listen, the album as a whole was quite excellent. I'm moving on to the EP you mentioned next and then I'm going to download some more of their stuff. Thank you again for the recs, I appreciate it.

I really like 'em. Oddly enough, I first listened to Music has the Right to Children in 2011 but didn't come back to it until this year. I dig the album a lot ever since I returned to it. I think my favorite song on it is 'Turquoise Hexagon Sun,' but 'Aquarius' is awesome and always makes me laugh with the whole "ORANGE. Yeahhhh, that's right!" bit. What sucks is I'm lazy so I haven't downloaded any of their other stuff. I assume you like them, otherwise you wouldn't have asked haha. What's your favorite album/EP/single/whatever of theirs?

I've heard most of his stuff but I got hooked on his more recent releases and haven't had a chance to give extensive listens to his older albums. I was actually talking about The Ghost of Freddy Roach, which I believe was an iTunes bonus track... I didn't know there was another one besides that! But that's pretty awesome, I'll definitely have to listen to Space Dad.

That's the first time I've heard that one haha. Usually people just say, "Super compatibility! Yay!" Anyway, I'd say Girl Called Alex is my favorite from the new record as well. I like how it starts out as a nice acoustic song and then turns into a total space rock jam. Goldtone and Never Run Away are second favs. The bonus track is pretty rad, too. How do you think the new album stacks up to Kurt's older stuff?
