Hardcore Backlog - Part 2: 2009

January 09:

Scott Weiland's 12 Bar Blues solo album
Prince's Parade and Prince (completing my set of his records during my favourite period of his recording–the late 70s and early 80s)
Judas Priest's Point of Entry (completing my "Non-Live Priest with Halford" collection, barring the last two albums)
Leon Russell's Hank Wilson's Back
Blue Öyster Cult's Blue Öyster Cult, Fire of Unknown Origin and Extraterrestrial Live in a box set that I can find no record of the existence of on the internet.
Genesis' 1970-1975 box set, which includes Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. Love this stuff. Surprised how much.
The Euphrates anthology, with A Bend in the River and Stereotypes Incorporated in it.
Tangerine Dream's Phaedra
Doomtree's False Hopes 13
Deep Purple's Deep Purple in Rock
Fine Young Cannibals' Fine Young Cannibals and The Raw and the Cooked
Randy Newman's Sail Away (alas, without bonus tracks)
Tom Petty and the Heartbrealers' Into the Great Wide Open
The Power Station's Living in Fear
the P.O.S. compilation thing, Meat Tape 2 and of course his new album Never Better
(both before I was supposed to get them–released 2/3/09)

February 09
Bull City's Guns & Butter after they opened for The Parlor Mob
Carcass' last CD+DVD remaster, this time of Symphonies of Sickness, complete with the demo for the album.
Prince's 3121
Coheed and Cambria's Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV | Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow (deluxe edition courtesy of Shea)
Randy Newman's Harps and Angels

March 09
Coheed and Cambria's In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV | Volume One: From Fear through the Eyes of Madness (deluxe edition) and Neverender: Children of the Fence Edition
King Diamond's Give Me Your Soul...Please
Brother Ali's The Truth Is Here
Static-X's Cult of Static (with bonus tracks exclusive to a retailer)
Mastodon's Crack the Skye (deluxe edition)

April 09
Horace Silver's Song for My Father
Reubens Accomplice's pre-release EP of 2 album songs and 2 covers each by 2 bands to go with them–titled the Sons of Men EP, because the album will be Sons of Men (And I pre-ordered it for its June release)
Fugazi's Repeater + 3 Songs which is Repeater with 3 Songs tacked onto the end.
The Elephant Kashimashi's 新しい季節へキミと ( Kashimashi]Atarashii Kisetsu He Kime To) and (Kiduna) singles, both special editions.
The Prize Fighter Inferno's My Brother's Blood Machine
Sleep's Dopesmoker
Death Cab for Cutie's You Can Play These Songs with Chords and The Open Door EP
Electric Light Orchestra's A New World Record and Face the Music
Ennio Morricone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly score
Love's Forever Changes
Mission of Burma's The Horrible Truth about Burma (remastered Definitive Edition)
Bill Evans' Waltz for Debby and You Must Believe in Spring
Minor Threat's Complete Discography which includes Minor Threat, In My Eyes, Out of Step and Salad Days
Lady Sovereign's Public Warning
Nine Inch Nails' Every Day Is Exactly the Same EP
The Twilight Sad's Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters, Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did, and Killed My Parents and Hit the Road after seeing them open for Mogwai
Speaking of whom, I bought their Batcat EP on vinyl.
Lindsey Buckingham's Under the Skin
T. Rex's Electric Warrior
The B-52's' The B-52's
Minus the Bear's They Make Beer Commercials Like This EP

Still to open from this month I have:
The B-52's' Wild Planet
Bee Gees' Horizontal and Idea (both massive Rhino 2-disc releases)
Belle and Sebastian's The Boy with the Arab Strap
Andrew Bird's The Mysterious Production of Eggs
Electric Light Orchestra's On the Third Day
Explosions in the Sky's Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever
Calexico and Iron & Wine's collaborative In the Reins EP, as well as the Iron & Wine solo releases The Creek Drank the Cradle and Woman King
Minus the Bear's Menos El Oso
Nine Inch Nails' Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D
Supertramp's Crime of the Century
The Velvet Underground's Loaded

And these four replacements for albums I already own:
Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell special edition, with "Hits Out of Hell" DVD and bonus live tracks.
The Who's A Quick One with bonus tracks
Dire Straits' Communiqué remastered (and, sadly, really, to match the other Dire Straits releases I have…I'm that pathetic.)
Belle and Sebastian's Push Barman to Open Old Wounds to replace the "boxset" release of the Dog on Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane and 3.. 6.. 9 Seconds of Light EPs (and add the tracks from the EPs following those three).

and, as of today, two John Coltrane boxsets:
Fearless Leader, which includes the 1957-1958 Prestige sessions Coltrane led, and which built the albums Coltrane (Remastered) aka Prestige 7105, Traneing In, Soultrane, Lush Life, Settin' the Pace, Standard Coltrane, Stardust, The Believer, Black Pearls, Bahia and The Last Trane. They're in session order, though, and not release order (ie, they are not split into these albums).
and The Impulse! Albums Volume 1 which includes Coltrane, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, Live at the Village Vanguard, Africa/Brass and Ballads.

Whew.
