Priest Feast - 28.02.09 - Globen, Stockholm, Sweden

lör 28 feb – Priest Feast

Testament

Never really been into Testament (although I used to like Thrash Metal back in the 80:ies), only heard Trial By Fire and Practice What You Preach earlier, so, most of the songs they played were new to me…anyways, they put up a great show with lot of melodic thrashy songs, kinda got my old thrash genes going again inside of me…

They got on the stage a few minutes prior to 19:00PM and play for about 40-something minutes before the stage is cleared off for the next act…

Megadeth

Solid set, solid show…not much to say…Dave Mustaine is doing his thing…has a good band behind him…and plays a few familiar songs along the way as well…

Gets on at 20:00PM and plays for an solid hour…

Judas Priest

My "House Gods" back in the 80:ies (and still are in a way), I finally get to see them, the original line-up (the classic four, minus the drummer) for the first time…(and maybe last?)…

Their part of the show starts at around 21:30PM…

They start of with Dawn of Creation and plays a solid set from that point on…even though, they have been playing the same setlist for quite a while now…would be nice to shuffle up the list just a bit, just so not EVERY show gets to look the same over and over again…

Priest has quite a giant catalouge to choose from, and could (and should) easily make a new setlist for every night…that's one of the fun part in being an spectator, not knowing what the next song is gonna be…what surprises does the band has for us tonight and so on…

But, no…if you've seen Priest live somewhere else in the last few months…they delievered the same goods this time around…no changes…at all…or very little…hmmm…

Anyways, for being the first time I saw the band live, I though it was a great show and I got what I wanted (although, if you could choose the songs yourself in beforehand, my setlist would've looked totally different from what they ended up playing)…

Robs voice isn't up to par anymore…well…he misses a few tones (although, he nails some others spot on)…being 57, you still have to be impressed with what capacity this man beholds in his lungs…*shivers*…

I wonder how long they will keep on going…playing fast metal songs on and off, takes it toll (i.e. playing steady rock as the Stones still are doing)…lot couple of hardrock / metal bands are already starting to announce their retirements…so…this could be one of the last times to see Priest in action…hopefully not…but hey…

Fun part is that they did play Green Manalishi, that is a great "oldie"…but, with a much shorter "guitar-noize-ending" than on…say…the "Live Vengeance '82" DVD…

The final guitar squeeel echoes out in the Globe at around 23:00PM…

Setlist (official) - (by snowman01)

1. Dawn Of Creation
2. Prophecy
3. Metal Gods
4. Eat Me Alive
5. Between The Hammer And The Anvil
6. Devil's Child
7. Breaking The Law
8. Hell Patrol
9. Death
10. Dissident Aggressor
11. Angel
12. The Hellion / Electric Eye
13. Rock Hard, Ride Free
14. Sinner
15. Painkiller

Encore:
16. Hell Bent For Leather
17. The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Prong Crown)
(that Jeee-Jeee-Jeee-part with the crowd)
18. You've Got Another Thing Comin'

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/judas-priest/2009/globen-stockholm-sweden-5bd6d334.html

All in all, my Metal Heart wants to give this baby a 10 out of 10…but, since I've seen quite a lot of other acts, who's been better…and delivered much more "surprises" in their shows…I end up giving this show a 7 out of 10…merely becuz I've never seen any of these acts live before, and, becuz I enjoyed the ride…

…and Yadda-yadda-yaaa…
