Zoë Keating (born 2.02.1972) is a Canadian-born cellist and composer based in San Francisco, California.
In her solo performances and recordings (particularly the ongoing project she calls „One Cello x 16”), she uses live electronic sampling and repetition in order to layer the sound of her cello, creating rhythmically dense musical structures. Zoë’s self-produced album One Cello x 16: Natoma has four times made it to #1 on the iTunes classical charts. Keating is the recipient of a 2009 Performing Arts grant from the Creative Capital Foundation.

When I have heard one track I thought "hey, that might be nice". Unfortunately her albums are plain and inrcedibly boring. She disappointed me wasting her great technique to play such a dull and uninventive music. Awesome cellist, awful composer.

Hey, how come the new album--Into the Trees-- isn't listed? BTW, you can buy or download it directly, setting your own price, from her website. I paid a little over the asking price and felt happy to be able to support such an artist--love her score for the Ghost Birds documentary!--in that way.
