Biografia

The Klinik (po odejściu Dirk’a Ivens’a solo Marc Verhaeghen jako Klinik) - belgijska grupa industrialna założona w 1982 roku przez praktykującego fana elektroniki Marca Verhaeghena. W 1985 roku Verhaeghen połączył siły z muzykami dwóch zespołów: Absolute Body Control (w składzie z Dirkiem Ivensem i Erikem van Wonterghemenem) i The Maniacs (Sandy Nys) co dało jedną „super grupę” Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs. Dość nieporęczna i ciężka do zapamiętana nazwa szybko została skrócona do aktualnej - The Klinik.

Sandy Nys szybko opuścił szeregi zespołu by poświęcić się własnemu projektowi Hybryds. Decyzję zbliżoną do branżowego kolegi podjął również Eric van Wonterghem, pozostawiając The Klinik jako duet - Dirk Ivens i Marc Verhaeghen.

Belgijski tandem szybko wypracował swój własny styl muzyczny i klimat współgrający z tytularnym szyldem - The Klinik. Twórczość zespołu charakteryzowała się sterylnym i precyzyjnym brzmieniem studyjnym. Na żywo duet prezentował natomiast zimną i trudną do ogarnięcia nawałnicę EBMowych beatów nie rezygnując również ze scenicznego wizerunku - Verhaeghen i Ivens z obandażowanymi twarzami i skórzanym odzieniu wprawiali w osłupienie nawet najbardziej wprawionych gapiów. Każde show The Klinik opierało się na „syczących” i zajadłych tekstach i wokalach Ivensa, którego muzycznie wspierał Verhaeghen, ponadto w warstwie muzycznej nie brakowało minimalistycznych rozwiązań syntezatorowych, wyważonych akordów i zniekształconych dźwięków… puzonu.

    The Klinik - Original old band Dirk Ivens & Marc Verhaegen 1986-1990. In December 2003, the duo reunited for a one-shot celebrative performance at the BIM Festival in Belgium. The huge success and overwhelming requests from fans led to the appearance of The Klinik in the original line up at the Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig the following year. Other festival appearances followed. In 2009, The Klinik are back as a full time band, with a new studio work to be released in the future. Because of continuing health problems of Marc Verhaegen, it's not sure that he can join The Klinik live on stage in the near future. Therefore, he will concentrate on creating music in his homestudio. The Klinik members anno 2009 are Dirk Ivens (Voice/Lyrics), Marc Verhaegen (Studio Music) and Peter Mastbooms (Live Sounds and Video Images)

    Yeah, on current bandmember/founder websites "The Klinik" is how this band is labeled. "Lastholes" indeed. *chuckles* Ooga booga. Zee korrekta namen ista ZEE KLEENEEKA!

    Now that they're touring again - yes!!! 20th December in Antwerpen at BIM Festival!!! - and even have one or two new songs on their playlist - my hopes are rising that "THE KLINIK" - i.e. Vergaehen&Ivens - will be reuniting again... at least for some gorgeous live-gigs I might suspect!!!! Klinik without the "THE" is not the same - coz it is without Ivens....

    to keep that discussion running ..;)..i guess "The Klinik" was used till D. Ivens started with Dive..after the "black leather" or "states" ? and M.Verhaeghen continued with "Klinik" , i m not so interested in this later following stuff anyway...i m totally satisfied" with "The Klinik" stuff ;D ..and of course always an eye on Dive, well at the end i ll continue listening this lp's tagged "The klinik" , even if i should rot in hell virtually bombarded with billions of damn flaming red "keep ur stats clean blah"..(any more ideas about that "the" thing, speculations, maybe real knowledge"" around?? ;]

    True. Sometimes they used the name "The Klinik". But today they (or actually Marc Verhaegen, since he is the only member now) have settled for the name "Klinik".
