Nah, we'd need ArkAwn for that. This one's more bore-bore-general-consensus. Shame, really. Don't suppose anyone has actually heard word on the next record, no?

If they're on a major label probability is they didn't get a choice about the cat food advert. A lot of bands sign contracts that mean they don't own their music anymore- I know Hundred Reasons ended up buying an album back from the label. Anyway, this is starting to sound like the Against Me! shoutbox...

I don't think the 'sell out' thing is so much about them jumping ship to make more money, but jumping ship and supporting big wig CEOs in Island Records. And I do see that as hypocritical considering their stance on big business, and I think it's entirely fair for people who consider music to be more of a community to stop supporting bands over things like that. Like I said though, crying over the internet won't change it so people should stop complaining about them selling out. I think Under The Fog and Save The World were two completely different records but I actually thought they were equaly as good, I like Headbutt too. And on that point about crowds? Those 'trupunx' are absolute dicks anyway haha, I'd sooner a Radio 1 crowd.

people that say that they've sold out and pine for the old days make me fucking laugh. bands change. i saw them a lot around the time that under the fog was originally released, and i enjoyed them, but it was more or less the same set. they have new material now: headbutt is a great uplifting song. and the cat food advert? being on a major now involves a LOT less income than you might think. i saw someone moaning on a forum about how their crowd features more radio one listeners these days, as if this automatically means there will be more dickheads. well FUCK THAT! i remember seeing them on the ruff and ready tour in early 2007, and some mohawked moron asked if he could bite my hair (?!) because it "looked like candy floss". i said no, and he did it anyway. my point? there will always be a small proportion of wankers at ANY gig. i was disappointed by fruitbag & co leaving, but you know what? they make good, honest music, for the right reasons, and they deserve to be supported.

Haha, now that's just going to be weird, I'll have to keep an eye out for that. I just hope I don't think of cat food every time I hear that song.

Ha, it's 'I Got Love' in the new Whiskas advert. Definitely cringe worthy stuff but like you say, it's still a good track.

At lot of it also comes to why you listen to music. Personally, the only thing that matters to me is: do I like the song? To be honest, I may cringe if I see that advert (what advert is it by the way?) but would it stop me buying their music if I like the song? Not a chance.

skatedestroy nails it in one. I'm annoyed when people confuse commercial success with selling out. I haven't been impressed with most of the new stuff I've heard but I'm still willing to be proven wrong. Hopefully I will be!

Aye, I see your point. In all honesty, I'm glad they did sign. If they hadn't then I probably wouldn't have heard them and my life is little bit better with these lads in it than not.

Each to their own I guess, but I disagree with you. There are loads of indie bands who travel all over the place to sold out crowds and actually have massive listenership. Rancid, as a really obvious example. And on a personal level, I'd rather be playing smaller shows - say the Academy in Dublin - than in a massive arena, I prefer those sorts of gigs. It's all personal choice though. I think the reason fans care so much about the likes of TKB selling out though, is because of their politics - anti-capitalist yet signed to Island. Imo that's the opposite of common sense. I do agree though that if people are that against it, they should either stop listening or stop supporting the band financially as opposed to crying about it on the internet.

I think a lot of people misunderstand what selling out actually means. Just because you've signed to a major label doesn't necessarily make you a sellout. That comes from when you change your musical direction because of the money that a label is offering you. That is what The King Blues have done. There are thousands of awesome bands on major labels that haven't done that.

To be honest, if I was in a band and I got the choice between staying unsigned or independant and going to a bigger label I'd go to the big label and at the very least give it a try. I'd want as many people to hear my bands music as possible, not to mention going all over the world would be awesome too and getting paid for doing what you love? Hell yeah. Give me that ahead of playing front of the same 20 people in a dingy pub in the middle of nowhere any day of the week. It's not selling out, it's just common sense.

Any band that has remained either unsigned or on an independent label, actually. I didn't even think to check for a second track with Headbutt, came across Sore Throat earlier today. I think Headbutt's a little less impressive compared to their old stuff but I still think it's a good song. Sore Throat, I thought was awful D:

Just got Under The Fog. Probably shouldn't have read the hype, I was expecting more. Still enjoyed it though.

Yeah keep posting fruitbag's link, no one post the actual response which refutes it all http://www.facebook.com/notes.php?id=7852483225#!/note.php?note_id=401680296920

"Why Fruitbag left The King Blues: http://www.myspace.com/dancinmike in the About Me section." Thats been a proper eye-opener for me, not just for the King Blues (although I thought they were an honest genuine band) but for (punk) music in general. Reading Itch's response has also been interesting, but not once does he answer the thing that really interests me- the money.

Reading through Itch's election comments on twitter. "whether you voted or not. the rich stay rich, the poor stay poor", "looks like the government's gonna win again", "the power aint in the ballots, its in your hands", "if you want REAL change then empower yourself, cameron, clegg, brown, they ain't gonna do it for you". Yawn. Change the record Itch, you're starting to sound like a boring preachy twat.

I thought I'd wait til I'd seen them live again to pass judgement, but I really don't like the new tracks. Their first album is golden because I don't think they'll ever top it now and the second is pretty good too, but I've kind of fallen out of love with them as a band now. Another thing that gets me is how preachy they've become, even though I agree with what they have to say. Itch can go on all he likes about not wanting the stinking BNP, but if he doesn't want to vote then it's inviting them in, because all their supporters will go to the polls.
