Rank All 7 Albums and Explain

  • Rank All 7 Albums and Explain

    1. In Rainbows(2007-08)- Love every song. Very layered songs. The final 2 songs could be the best Radiohead songs ever. An album that represents Radiohead's entire collection.
    2. OK Computer(1997)- Considered one of the most influencial albums. Lots of themes. Barely missing the #1 spot.
    3. The Bends(1995)- Filled with great rock songs, including fan fav Street Spirit.
    4. Kid A(2000)- Impressive electronic rock album.
    5. Amnesiac(2001)- Interesting mix of alot of genres. Relaxing album.
6.Hail To The Theif(2003)-Great album with lots of themes, but some songs aren't that great.
    7. Pablo Honey(1993)- Not a fan of this album. Similar style to the bends.

  • 1. OK Computer - The first Radiohead album I ever heard, and I love every track. Whenever I listen to this album, the music takes me to lots of different places (it's hard to describe). Not many other albums (by anyone) do that to me.
    2. The Bends - Not quite as mind blowing as OK Computer, but as a guitarist I very much appreciate the heavy rock/guitar band sound so prominent on this album. Again, I love every track.
    3. Kid A - When I first heard this album I hated it, but now I love it. All the songs are very different and interesting. Motion Picture Soundtrack is also one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
    4. Hail to the Thief - I like this album because to me it combines the electronic sounds of Kid A and the rock of OK Computer. I think it is very underrated and it contains some of my favourite Radiohead songs.
    5. In Rainbows - This album's great because you can hear sounds on it from every part of their career. Some of the tracks sound pretty simple compared to their earlier stuff, though.
    6. Amnesiac - Some of the songs on here are absolutely amazing (You and Whose Army, Life in a Glasshouse), others are just plain weird (Pulk/Pull, Hunting Bears).
    7. Pablo Honey - Despite placing last, this album still has some pretty brilliant songs and I think it is fairly underrated.

  • 1- Ok Computer [10.0/10.0] - Classic album, just perfect. Don't need any comments.
2- Kid A [10.0/10.0] - The most experimental and scary work, I love this one. I never listened something like this.
3- The Bends [10.0/10.0] - Classic Guitar album, 3 guitar players play all the songs perfecly. Sometimes heavy, sometimes beatiful.
4- In Rainbows [10.0/10.0] - A Hard album to describle. That's perfect, each song is an universe.
5- Hail To The Thief [10.0/10.0] - It's the best prodution, and mixes the Kid A's eletronics riffs with Ok Computer classic guitar performance.
6- Amnesiac [10.0/10.0] - So good as Kid A and the others, it's so jazz and beatiful, and also electronic.
7- The Eraser [9.0/10.0] - So crazy and wonderfull, and love this one.
8- Airbag/How Am I Driving EP [8.5/10.0] - Sounds really good, love "Pearly", "Palo Alto", and etc.
9- COM LAG (2plus2isfive) [8.0/10.0] - I don't like the remixes one, but "Fog", "I Will (Los Angeles Version)", "I am a citizen insane" and etc are amazing good.
10- I Might Be Wrong [8.0/10.0] - Yeah, we can listen to "True Love Waits" right here. And I love the "Like Spinning Plates" performance on piano, and the extended version for "Everything in its right place".
11- Pablo Honey [7.5/10.0] - Good debuting album. Love "Creep", "You", "Stop Whispering", "Ripcord", etc.
12- My Iron Lung [7.0/10.0] - It's also a good work, rebember just a little the secound Radiohead's album.
13- Drill [6.0/10.0] - It's not bad, it's just... early, hahaha, but I love "You"

1=. Kid A - For me, Radiohead's most cohesive album. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it feels like every song on the album just belongs, exactly as it is. It is still the most experimental and scary album they've ever written, and 'How To Disappear Completely' has to be in any fan's Top 5 Radiohead songs.

1=. OK Computer - While other British bands like Blur were stating that 'Modern Life Is Rubbish', Radiohead were instead pointing out that modern life is terrifying. I think it was on OK Computer that Radiohead reached their peak in terms of songcraft. After the immense progression from Pablo Honey to The Bends, where Radiohead found their 'voice', so to speak, it was OK Computer that they used that new-found power to make a truly sensational album. There are just so many achingly beautiful tracks it's hard to pick a favourite.

    3. In Rainbows - I think there's something special about In Rainbows. It's almost too peaceful to be a Radiohead album, whilst still exploring very tender human themes. Some of the melodies that the band have written for this album are some of their most beautiful (See Nude / House of Cards / Weird Fishes / All I Need / Reckoner for example). All that, and managing to make the record industry take a long, hard look at itself. What more can anyone ask?

    4. Amnesiac - A crazy, crazy album. It is incredibly inconsistent in terms of song quality (Pyramid Song into Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors for example) but the high points are plentiful and just too good to ignore. Even if it is a difficult listen, it is still incredibly rewarding.

    5. The Bends - Contains 'Fake Plastic Trees' and 'Street Spirit (Fade Out)' which, even after all this time, still have to be considering two of Radiohead's very best songs. Some of the album feels a little dated to me now, but it was the first Radiohead album I ever bought and means an awful lot to me still.

    6. Hail To The Thief - This could have been Radiohead's best album, seriously. There are just a few songs which should be B-Sides instead (I'm looking at you, Punch-up At A Wedding) and a few songs where the recording just didn't convey how good the songs actually were (The album version of The Gloaming isn't a patch on the live version, it just isn't)

    7. Pablo Honey - Some good songs on Pablo Honey, but it feels old now and I can't believe that when the band had songs like Faithless The Wonderboy, How Can You Be Sure, High and Dry, Motion Picture Soundtrack and The Bends kicking around in the background in some form or other when this album was written, that it turned out the way it did.

As for EP's, I won't go into the same detail, but my ratings are as follows:

    1. I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings
    2. Airbag / How Am I Driving?
    3. My Iron Lung EP
    4. Itch
    5. COM LAG
    6. Drill EP

I love em all like nothing else... ive been listening for years and its to only band i ever want to see a show from... I love satie, kings of convenience, chopin, deftones (white pony), massive attack, ravel, debussy but nothing quit like radiohead. For me its the perfect music.
    but fuck pablo honey.

  • 1) OK Computer - As far as songwriting is concerned, this is their finest hour. This album made me going from being a fan to being obsessed. It showed the world what they were capable of doing. My faves were Lucky, Let Down, Exit Music, Karma Police and of course Paranoid Android.

    2) Kid A - This one grew on me. Contains what I think are two of their most startlingly beautiful songs (How to Disappear Completely, Motion Picture Soundtrack). Every time I listen I feel like I hear or learn something new. Truly ahead of its time in my opinion.

    3) In Rainbows - The songwriting is almost on par with OK Computer on this one. I think the only weak track was Bodysnatchers. At different points I declared several of the songs on here as my favorites ever (All I Need, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling into Place and Videotape).

    4) The Bends - At one time this one was my favorite. Their best straight-up guitar-rock record. The guitar-work on the title track, Bones, and Just is amazing. The closer, Street Spirit (Fade Out) was my favorite of theirs for a very long time...until How to Disappear Completely came along.

    5) Hail to the Thief - The most underrated album for sure. Admittedly when it came out I didn't give it too much of a listen. When In Rainbows came out I rediscovered it and realized how great it was. To me this was the closest they ever went back to The Bends, while not straying too far from Kid A or Amnesiac. Highlights for me are "I Will", "There There," "A Wolf at the Door," "Sail to the Moon" and "2+2=5"

    6) Amnesiac - Good, but probably their most inconsistent since Pablo Honey. You and Whose Army always amazes me. A second version of Morning Bell, not so much.

    7) Pablo Honey - It's not really that bad, but in comparison to everything else they've done, it doesn't stand a chance. Stop Whispering is probably my favorite on the album.

1.Amnesiac - столь эмоциональный и разноплановый альбом. Вершина. IMBW и Life in... лучшие.
2.HTTT - необыкновенный. Sit down и Where i end просто сносят голову.
3.Kid A - нет слов. Первый любимый альбом у рх.
4.In Rainbows - половина песен откровенная халтура но остальный улёт. особенно Reckoner.
5.The Bends - очень красивый и цельный альбом, но не моё.
6.OKC - только за революцию в своём жанре и за Paranoid Android.
    7.Pablo Honey - говно.

  • 1 kid a because its very different to the style they had in ok computer
2 the bends. super rock, heavy on guitar, very good lyrics
3 hail to the thief. All three albums would tie but this has a strange mimic to kid a but extremely good lyrics and awesome electronic beats with guitar should be on top but it wasn't a difficult album to make like kid a or bends
4 in rainbows cus of more optimistic sound
5 ok computer, good songs but way overrated
6 Pablo honey, good Indie songs and the song that started it all 'creep'
7 amnesiac. Copy of kid a mainly with morning bell/amnesiac but a good preview of what was to come

Da da da da da da da RADIOHEAD BEAR!!

  • 1. 10/10 In Rainbows
    - sublime appreciation of traditional and digital instrumental timbre, tone, and layering. A mastery of emotionally intelligent handling of tempo and syncopation. Open, raw, poignant, beautiful.

    2 10/10 OK Computer
    - 1990's UK society, personified in sound.

    3 7/10 The Bends
    - turned their hands to something that they weren't best at, and did it better than the rest.

    4 6/10 Kid A
    - balls to the music establishment and audience expectations. Five parts genuine original musical experimentation, five parts Karl Stockhausen and co.

    5 6/10 HailTTT
    - 'balls to the music establishment and expectations, with some genuine musical experimentation' seems like less balls the third time round. Logically more refined than Kid A or Amnesiac.

    6 4/10 Amnesiac
    - Kid A part two: if the two albums had been combined, refined by expulsion of some of the weaker tunes, we'd have had an album three times better.

    7 4/10 Pablo Honey
    - some blokes. playing songs. in the key of G. with their guitars. and drums. and a single that american college students liked.

    Be. Here. Now.

I'll rate these by how much I've listened to each album at that time period.

1 OK Computer 10/10 Sure, of course Radiohead is going to say that Kid A is their masterpiece and not what everybody else loves (They also played this album live to death way more than any other due to their demanding record label not to mention how this slow paced album was the beginning of a band that just started getting use to playing gloomy songs for a living night in and night out). This album is the most musical while it's not afraid of getting experimental either. It takes familiar things we've heard (a classic sound), and merges it with otherworldly sounds. Unlike Kid A, it knows precisely what it wants to be start to finish. I think people like this album so much because it not only started Radiohead's concept albums, but just happened to feel just like how all of it's listeners felt at that particular time period. Radiohead will not feel that way, because it's not like they found an album that surprisingly mirrored how they felt at exactly the same time.

2 The Bends 9/10 CLASSIC ROCK WITH DEPTH Yup, I would rather listen to In Rainbows now, but I listened to this way more for it's time period. You could say that every song feels so right that it's almost cliche, but why haven't I heard any other classic rock albums quite like this? Sure, it's not a concept album, and the lyrics aren't as thought out as they are today, but there are no dud songs, and this is classic rock done better.

3 In Rainbows 8/10 BRIGHT REVEALING AND WARM This doesn't get 10 because.... Bodysnatchers just kind of feels out of place in this album, and I'm not particularly fond of mumbling for a chorus, but the ending is very good. On Reckoner, I would have prefered a simple jazz beat like they do live (nothing wrong with experimentation though and I still love this song). I kind of love the Scotch Myst version of Faust Arp way better than the cd version (never thought I'd say get rid of the orchestra). This album feels even shorter than it is! Ah, I use to always say, "short and sweet, leave em hanging," and now I have to eat my own words! Those things aside, Nude. Weird Fishes. All I need. Videotape.= perfection.

4 Kid A 8/10 FEEDBACK FILM SCORE, PURE CONCEPT, CONCENTRATED MOODS Better lyrics, and a better concept album than OK Computer, most definitely, but this is less, well, musical. Just because it is darker doesn't mean I will think it's better. The song's moods are definitely more surreal and exact than Ok Computer's but a few of them are far more repetitive, and they go less places that Ok Computer's does. I really love this album. I absolutely love How to Disappear Completely and it's probably my favorite Radiohead song, but to be honest, are you obsessed with Tree Fingers? Also, there's something about this album where I sometimes feel like one of the members of the band is taking a break and letting feedback do it's thing while they sit in a corner, or just not doing a single thing at all. Ok computer felt like the score to a movie and a pop song at the same time, but Kid A only feels like a film score (a drearier and more doomed one at that and that's good). Many of the songs on this album are absolutely beautiful, but really, how often do you listen to them now compared to the other albums?

5 Hail To the Thief 8/10 LYRICAL, DOSE OF WARM TERROR I hated this album at first, just like Thom Yorke did, but after further listening, I definitely think it's underrated. In my opinion this is Thom at his lyrical peak. Absolutely brilliant, and they made this album in only 2 weeks? Unreal. To me this is the start of the more colorful Radiohead that would eventually be In rainbows. It's like a more friendly Kid A, but some more guitar, and more piano rather than organs and feedback. It'll go to Kid A's same level of darkness if not more and jumps to a warmth somewhere in between In Rainbows and the Bends. Probably the oddest album of theirs I think yet, or maybe just the least expected, 2nd to Kid A that is.

6 Amnesiac 7/10 HAUNTING, DREADFUL, KID A 2 Yes, this was really B sides to Kid A. It wasn't an album made to be in light of it's own concept. I would say that this is Radiohead at it's darkest and dreariest moment, but why wouldn't I think that that's better? Where is the life? Where are the colors? Even though this album feels painful, I don't actually feel the conflicting thoughts that I normally do. All I see is doom, and I'm sure that it's intentional. This feels like B sides too, especially with another Morning Bell. Some Highlight songs on it though never the less.

7 Pablo Honey 5/10 ROCK SONGS, BAD LYRICS, UNFORTUNATE RECORDINGS
After owning the live at Astoria DVD, I'm convinced that many of the recordings on Pablo Honey don't do the songs justice they deserve, particularly Prove Yourself and Blow Out. Because of this, the album feels like there are only 2 guitars as opposed to three. The lyrics are still bad, but Lurgee, I Can't, and Thinking of You, I believe might have been underrated at the time. Of course they were, "um, Radiohead they did, um, Creep, right?"

What I thought I'd do was, I'd pretend to be one of those deaf mutes...
  • 1. OK Computer - Not a very original choice, but this album never tires me. No many how many times I've listened to it, the CD is never collecting dust. Every track has it's own value, presenting something of it's own. This is the power of the album. spectacular opener, astonishing ending, it feels like a very well-written novel. That, and climbing up the walls is my favourite song performed by radiohead
    10/10
    2. Hail to the Thief - I remember listening to this and thinking to myself that the musical geniuses might be losing some inspiration, but this album grew a lot on me. An album filled very moody and shady songs, but with an underlying beauty and a collision of styles and tunes that the band learned over the years. Wolf at the door is a great example. This record also presents the best lyrics on a radiohead album to date.
    9/10
    3. In Rainbows - First album of Yorke and co that I felt confident in putting on while having guests over that weren't that into music. Very smooth and appealing songs, yet never strays from the real Radiohead sound. The melodies in some of the tracks are the quality of OK computer, something that wasn't present on the previous albums (although that was compensated for).
    9/10
    4. Kid A - This was my favourite piece of work by Radiohead for a long time, but quite some years later it struck me how i often would skip over this and rather listen to HttT, OK computer or even the Bends. This is a masterpiece, no doubt about it, one of the best concept albums out there, yet it's coldness, which swarms throughout the entire album, is kind of hard to listen to. this is an album I have to be in the mood for.
    8/10
    5. The Bends - Amazing how they could make music sounding very cheesy at some points, but is actually very well thought out. I'm very fond of the 'rockable' tracks, Just, My Iron Lung, Rock done perfectly. Yorke nails something many artists only dreams about. With street spirit (although in no way a favourite song of mine) introducing us in what is yet to come.
    8/10
    6. Amnesiac - Never had a click with his one. Only Knives out, You and whose army and I might be wrong leave a very good impression on me. That's 3 out of 11, the other songs just don't do it for me. I miss the clever rhythms and lyrics and although every album seems to have a sort of mood-set, i miss one on this one.
    6/10
    7. Pablo honey - I only listened to the hits of this album..... bad ain't it, didn't really feel like i was missing out on something

"Well, I'll go to college and I'll learn some big words, And I'll talk real loud, Goddamn right, I'll be heard."
  • Before I begin let me just suggest to you that you should by the Collector's Editions of all the Radiohead albums if you want the full experience. The B-Sides have come to be my favorites over some of the hits...

    1. In Rainbows (Every song is GREAT)
    2. The Bends (Gotta love Just and Planet Telex)
    3. Amnesiac (The Opening Song is the winner)
    4. Hail To The Thief (Solid track list, major change in sound as Radiohead picks up their guitars again and put them to good use.)
    5. Kid A (I love the National Anthem)
    6. OK Computer (It would be last if not for "Climbing Up The Walls")
    7. TKOL REMIX 1234567 (The First 2 Tracks are the best)
    8. TKOL (Little By Little and Codex are the two favorites)
    9. Pablo Honey (Creep, Million Dollar Question, and Yes I Am are the only highlights of the album.

My Favorite EP is definately "Com Lag" mainly because of its second half. Fog (again) is brilliant.

"Hell is full of musical amateurs."

  • this is pretty easy...

    1. (10.0, A+) OK Computer (1997) - best (modern? indie?) rock album ever?

    2. (10.0, A+) The Bends (1995) - has a couple of misses and not as deep as OKC, but still awesome. Lots of great non-album tracks too.

    3. (9.5, A) Kid A (2000) - Not as many highs as Amnesiac, but overall much deeper. Not since Joy Division became New Order have we had such an artistically successful shift in style (from OKC).

    4. (9.0, A-) Amnesiac (2001) - Rock comes creeping back in, but with lots of odd style. The album that has "grown" the most for me over the years.

    5. (9.0, A-) In Rainbows (2007-08) - I love the slower songs, especially those on Part II. The so-called hits (except for Nude) were not my favorites though.

    6. (8.5, B+) Hail To The Thief (2003) - Granted its hit or miss, but its much better than most seem to think. Lacks the highs of other albums, but also lacks the misses of other recent albums - and a welcome return to a fuller Art Rock sound.

    7. (8.0, B) The King Of Limbs (2011) - I've been with this band from the start, and loved the jump from Arena Rock to Artsy Electronic Rock... but this album is just a tad too "out there" for me... not enough strong themes, melodies, or, dare I say, fun. Supercollider and The Butcher are probably better than anything on the album! (except for Codex, of course) But overall, very well done; an album I deeply admire, but just do not love.

    8. (7.5, C+) Pablo Honey (1993) - Not as bad as most say, but most of it is just standard rock. I know this will be unpopular to say, but even just the four or five solid songs here are TONS more fun than anything on TKOL.

    9. (6.0, D) TKOL RMX 1234567 (2011) - A near-total disappointment and wasted opportunity.

I hope to hear feedback from anybody about these comments
    and/or
Vote on my King of Limbs Remix voting thread!!!
