SPACE PIRATES

ENGLISH:
The Space Pirates is a four-man formation, and it’s members want to give live performance a whole new meaning. Too often live performance is only one or two people clicking behind their laptops; The Pirates intend to make a change in this belief system! Not only the music, but also the vocals are being brought live on-stage. During their shows they want more than just perform, they seek out the interaction with the audience which is so important for all artists and performers alike. This results in an ecstatic crowd and new fans everywhere they go. The shows are supported by interactive visuals and animations; all made by the Space Pirates them selves. In the music of the Space Pirates you can find a new and refreshing mixture of electro, techno, minimal, techhouse and much more. No-one has been able to properly fit their music into one category, and that probably why everyone seems to like it. It is an original mix, with no boundaries; anything goes. Not only do they use common electronic music equipment, they integrate analogue instruments as well to come to their very specific sound.

Biography:
Not so long ago, in galaxy far, far away the Space Pirates found their existence in a sea container. It was 2006 earthly time when the Space Pirates were banned from their home planet, because the only acceptable music there was bubbling. Not willing to comply with this, 3 of them sought out to find another planet, where their music would be accepted. Since then they have drifted across the vast space for gigs and recognition. Earth has proven to be a very fertile planet to produce music and perform; therefore it has become their home base.

With their sawing electro the Space Pirates conquered many hearts right from the start. April 2007 was their big Earthly debut on Dutch Queens day in Eindhoven, at an open-air stage. With the limited means they had brought with them, they again dazed many techno heart. Shortly after this the fourth Pirate followed. Because his visuals didn’t have any meaning in the bubbling scene, he said goodbye to his home planet and accompanied the others in the quest for recognition.
September 2007, in spite of the fact that their shows need do be experienced, the Space Pirates launched their first DVDemo. Three month later they were performing in one of the showcases of the B-Stage (BRAM). Even though they competed against rock bands, before a rock crowd, they managed to get the audience go mad. Radio station 3FM has given the Space Pirates 15 minutes of airplay already, and others have hosted as well. Queens day 2008 was another big show for the Pirates. Now in the line-up of PACT, one of the biggest and most favorable parties in Eindhoven, they rocked the parking garage on its foundations. Since then there has been a lot of investments in hardware and growth musically. The latest and biggest achievement has been winning the public prize in ‘De Grote Prijs Van Nederland’ (the most prestigious talent showcase in Holland).

De Space Pirates bestaan uit vier personen die het begrip live optreden een nieuwe betekenis willen geven. Te vaak bestaat een live optreden uit één of twee personen die achter hun laptops staan te klikken, de Space Pirates brengen hier verandering in! Naast het feit dat ze onstage hun muziek fysiek ten gehore brengen worden ook de vocals live gedaan. Tijdens hun show zoeken ze de interactie met het publiek en komen maar voor één ding, namelijk een vette show neer te zetten en het publiek op zijn kop te zetten. De show wordt ondersteund met visuele effecten en animaties.
De muziek van de Space Pirates is nieuw en verfrissend. In hun nummers vindt je invloeden van electro, techno, minimal, techhouse, teveel om op te noemen. De Space Pirates gebruiken naast de elektronische weg ook analoge instrumenten om tot hun totaal eigen sound te komen.

Biografie:
In 2006 zijn de Space Pirates onstaan in een zeecontainer ergens ver weg in een onbekend sterrenstelsel. De muziek werd door hun eigen volk niet geaccepteerd en werden van hun planeet verbannen. Sindsdien zwerven zij door de ruimte op zoek naar volkeren die hen en hun muziek accepteren en weten te waarderen. Al tijdens het eerste optreden van de Space Pirates wisten ze vele harten al te winnen voor hun zagende Electro knallers. April 2007 was hun grote debuut tijdens Q-day in Eindhoven, op een talentpodium gelegen op het Lichtplein. Met de schamele middelen die ze toen ter beschikking hadden wisten ze wederom te overdonderen en menig technohart te veroveren voor hun sound.

Vrij snel na hun eerste aardse bezoek werd het drietal versterkt door een oude planetaire vriend, na het vertrek van de Space Pirates hadden zijn visuals totaal geen betekenis meer en besloot daarop om zijn vrienden te vergezellen in hun zoektocht naar erkenning. In september 2007 werd met weinig middelen de eerste DVDemo opgenomen want de Space Pirates moet je niet alleen horen maar ook zien. December 2007 waren de Space Pirates ook te zien en te horen tijdens één van de vier showcases van B-Stage (BRAM). Ook hier wisten zij het het publiek, wat voornamelijk uit rockpubliek bestond, helemaal los te krijgen. 3FM is inmiddels ook al aangedaan, midden in de nacht deden zij hun ding en wisten 15 minuten airplay te krijgen. In 2008 werden de Space Pirates wederom geboekt voor Koninginnedag te Eindhoven, nu niet op een talentpodium maar regelrecht tussen de line-up van PACT. Na een moeizame start van de set wisten zij het publiek te grijpen en aan het eind van de set stond de parkeergarage te schudden op zijn fundering.

In de tussentijd is er veel geïnvesteerd in hardware en nieuwe nummers. Tijdens elke show laten de leden iedere keer weer een enorme groei zien, weet telkens het vaste publiek te verassen en nieuwe bewonderaars voor zich te winnen. Sinds juni 2008 is er ook een start gemaakt met de merchandise collectie die te vinden is in onze webshop of tijdens één van onze optredens. De meest recente en grootste wat ze bereikt hebben is het winnen van de publieksprijs van 'de Grote Prijs van Nederland'.
