El screamo o skream es un subgénero del hardcore punk. La palabra screamo viene de scream (grito en inglés) y de emocion (sentimiento). Básicamente es una fusión de hardcore caótico lleno de letras que tratan temas políticos existencialistas con gran carga intelectual. El screamo se originó en Estados Unidos a finales de la década de 1990, y se caracteriza principalmente por vocales o gritos fuertes, muchas veces violentos y dramáticos. A diferencia del hardcore punk, las canciones y los gritos son más lentos, los gritos duran más y tienden a ser más agudos.

The screamo is a subgenre of hardcore punk and emo. The word comes from screamo scream and emotion. Basically it is a merger of chaotic hardcore full of lyrics that deal with heavy topics existentialist intellectual pessimistic and sometimes political issues. Screamo originated in the United States in the late 1990's and is mainly characterized by strong vocals and screaming, violent and often tragic. Unlike the hardcore punk, songs and screams are slower, last longer and screams tend to be more acute.
