For fans of GA metal bands

I'm tired of hearing people bitch about how there is no good metal music coming out of Atlanta or the surrounding areas! This is for people who are fans of metal bands that hail from the state of Georgia (I ALSO CONNECTED A FEW BANDS THAT HAVE FOUNDING MEMBERS WHO RESIDE IN THIS STATE AND PLAY SHOWS HERE ALL THE TIME, SUCH AS TORCHE, ETC).

Bored on a Friday night? Tune in to WREK 91.1 fm for some metal. Or stream the show at wrekage.org.

Wanna discuss shows that are coming up, etc?

'the roll in rock, the ‘in-pocket’ ‘bass ackward’ beat that puts the ‘late’ in metal'. Black Tusks album 'Set the Dial' reviewed here: http://www.trebuchet-magazine.com/index.php/site/article/black_tusk_set_the_dial/

I thought people complained about Atlanta's overwhelming ghetto culture as the reason for little to no metal being down there....

Hit up the Primate page and let's vote Atlanta's Primate as the primary pic.

this is a last.fm group, not a wikipedia article. if the creator doesn't want shitty bands in here regardless of whether or not they're metal, then they can do that. big fucking deal.

I'm sorry I upset you, Mr. 25 year old. I didn't realize I was acting like I was bestowing "metalness" by deciding what artists to connect to this group. You being upset that metalcore isn't included in a "GA METAL Bands" connected artists page to a group that only has 24 people in it is ridiculous. Most people do not consider those bands to be metal, even look at the tags on the pages of those bands. Have fun listening to Devildriver.

Well, MOST people would consider all of those bands you listed to be alt rock or hard rock. Nu-metal is pretty much that. As far as any of the deathcore or hardcore bands from GA, I don't know of ANYone who would classify them as hard rock. In any case, this is pointless. I no longer wish to be a part of the group and cancelled my request. "Being metal" isn't something that a pair of 22-year-olds get to bestow anyway. I can only hope that the group becomes more inclusive in the future to the many other subgenres of metal (not hard rock) that exist and quits trying to prioritze taste and preference over what I thought was supposed to be about geography.

There are plenty of bands in here I don't care for. Why are you not up in arms over the lack of Sevendust? After all isn't nu-METAL metal? You are correct in that there are plenty of people who think bands like With Blood Comes Cleansing are metal, but there are plenty of people who think Rob Zombie, Alice in Chains, and Godsmack are metal, too.

I am not an expert. My point was that neither are any of you. We are all simply fans. With a group named "Georgia Metal Bands", it only seemed logical to include ALL metal bands, even those you or the moderator/founder don't care for. Deftones are heavy but the argument could be made that they are alt rock and not metal, depending on who you ask. I don't think anyone would hesitate to call With Blood Comes Cleansing or Attila or The Chariot or Mask The Wretch or This Hideous Strength or any number of bands you have excluded metal. I'm not angry or anything, mostly just perplexed.

One last thing before I go to sleep: the term 'open minded' is not synonymous with 'all inclusive'. The ability to filter is a good thing.

Additionally, I'm curious what makes you the expert on all things metal? Norma Jean is definitively metal, despite not being included on M-A or most other reputable metal sites. So, what makes you the expert? Why is your opinion more valid than ours? After all, as elitists, wouldn't you have expected us to spend an unreasonable amount of time deciding what is metal and what isn't?

I didn't violate anything seeing as how this isn't my group LMAO. being heavy doesn't mean you're metal. Deftones are heavy. Deftones are awesome. Deftones are not metal. Norma Jean's first record was great. everything after was forgettable. They're heavy. They're not metal. There's really no reason for this level of butthurtness stemming from an unpleasing answer to your initial question, really.

In which case you should rename the group Georgia Metal Bands That Only Sara And Some Of Her Friends Prefer. Don't be so narrow-minded. I know many people that listen to those bands and the bands listed on your page. It is the elitists like yourself (you are apparently only 22, like your friend Brian, so you think you know everything about metal) that make it such a frustrating environment to the true music lovers and fans of many genres out there.

I am sorry, but I refuse to add The Chariot and Norma Jean to this list. It does not count. Also, it will just connect this group to the artist page and will attract people who listen to crap. Somehow, whitechapel has already leaked into our charts and I'm not aiming for more of that crap on our charts. This group is supposed to be a celebration of metal bands from this state that contribute to a general scene. Norma Jean and The Chariot are outside of this.
