Which song won you over?

i first discovered Bloc Party through PureVolume, and so the first BP song i ever heard was The Prayer. i think it was about twenty seconds into the track that i fell hopelessly in love with the band. the next song that convinced me that Bloc Party is probably the greatest band in the universe was So Here We Are. so... what was the first song you heard by the Bloc? was it the song that made them (one of) your favourite band(s)? which song won you over?

I first heard Helicopter on TV, did not like it at the time. Then heard The Prayer a while later when someone sent me the video for it, did not like it at all. (still don't) Then someone here on Last.FM reintroduce me to them by recommending them and I liked the song Like Eating Glass a lot when I first heard it on the radio, but ultimately when I got their albums and heard Banquet - I was like wow this is great, definitely their best and most moving!

So Here We Are. I loved that song before I even really knew who Bloc Party were.

I heard their songs all over the place really :P
I was a pretty big fan when Silent Alarm was knocking around though.

Banquet was the first song I heard but it was probably She's Hearing Voices which was the point of no return when I bought Silent Alarm.

the first song i heard was Two More Years and i loved it. This Modern Love was the second and it was when i really became their fan. they're still in my favourite songs by them.

the first song i heard was plans and hated it!! then i heared two more years and loved it, i listened to a few more songs, banquet and so hear we are. i then thought they are amazing!!

The first song I heard was Banquet. Thought it was kind of cool, but it kind of annoyed me at the same time.

Just about a year ago, I heard So Here We Are somewhere, I don't really remember, but I loved it. And then around February, I was at FYE looking for new CD's, and I decided to buy Silent Alarm. They've been a favorite of mine ever since.

My first contact with Bloc Party was while playing "Burnout Revenge" on the XBOX, I think in September 2005. Helicopter is part of the ingame-soundtrack. Great game & great song.

I heard Banquet at my friends house before I really even got into indie music... now I LOVE indie and I LOVE Bloc Party.

First song I heard was Banquet, didn't like it at all (go figure how is this possible). Couple weeks later I heard Helicopter, absolutely loved it, so then I got Silent Alarm and realised it was pretty much one of the best albums ever made.

i heard banquet on a surf movie, except it didnt have the name or the band, so i went on a massive hunt to find them

First song I heard was Banquet I think it came up on mtv loved the video and the whole sound fell in love with the band. Wasn't until I got Silent Alarm I fully realised how excellent they are.

I saw a part of their performance on pinkpop on the telly and I think Banquet won me over. Unfortunately I don't remember the other songs they played...

this modern love

the first time i heard bloc party was while playing burnout revenge on xbox, like someone else above, the track was helicopter. i liked the song, but it didn't catch me yet. then maybe a few months ago during a conversation about different music my friend pointed me in the direction of banquet. i loved the song, it's a great one, but i didn't go looking for anything else. i actually didn't even make the connection to helicopter, i don't think i knew it was bloc party at the time. i recently wanted to watch the music video/listen to the song of banquet on youtube and just decided to watch/listen to the other videos that are up there, and i fell in love with this modern love. i somehow managed to relate to the entire song after replaying it a few times. i like all of their stuff, and i really like the new single (both live and studio versions).

"like eating glass" was the first bloc party song i ever heard. it was on rage really late one night and i've been smitten ever since! they had a fresh sound and kele was so full of energy when he performed the song. after that i set about tracking their other music.. it was tough to start with as no one seemed to have ever heard of them... they still haven't where i'm from.. but as soon as i got silent alarm i was in love with the band.

Bloc Party= sheer addictive brilliance!

they are even better live than on their album's tho..
