Biography Björn Ove Ingemar "Speed" Strid (born September 10, 1978) grew up in Sweden and received the nickname "Speed" from fellow students as a result of the "extreme music" he was known to enjoy. He utilizes a varied vocal style, being able to quickly alternate between more guttural growls and higher screams and clean, harmonious vocals.

Strid co-founded Soilwork as the vocalist in 1995 under the name Inferior Breed. This name was later changed to Soilwork once the fledgling band's sound began to take shape. Most of the lyrics are written by Strid as well. He also founded the thrash metal band Terror 2000 in 1999, and Coldseed in 2006, which focuses more on modern metal (alternative). In 2004 he joined up with Disarmonia Mundi, where he recorded vocals for two full-length albums and only a few songs on the yet-to-come third album, before leaving.

Strid has provided vocals for Darkane on their demo recording prior to Lawrence Mackrory joining the band before their debut album, and he also made a guest appearance on Zero Tolerance's "Prime Time Mind Surgery", released in September 2006.

W 1995 roku rozpoczął karierę w zespole Soilwork (początkowo znanym jako Inferior Breed), którego jest współzałożycielem. Jest autorem większości tekstów do utworów zespołu.

What an ambitious guy, obviously he's in high demand as a singer with his insane talent. 13 records put out at the age of 30! That's the kind of ambition I can appreciate especially with this kind of music. Incredibly unique singer, so diverse and the melodies never get old. He's Halford on steroids

Lol, his vocals are unbelievable on all his albums. Can't really say any one is better than another. Listening to Coldseed now, what an underrated album with a ton of brilliant songs.
