my Scrobbler: is unicoding al non roman script tiles and artists name

  • Not a complete solution yes, but a good temporary fix so that I can actually scrobble again. Thanks ILuvMus1c

  • I did what ILuvMus1c (I think that's their username) suggested, and it does scrobble my stuff more consistently, but now the scrobbler looks like this:

It looks so sad without the artist info and such. :< *needs a more proper fix* But for now it's okay.

  • Actually if you let the client scrobble without opening its window you will not have any ??? ???? scrobble mistakes.
Just don’t open the client window, let it scrobble OK, everything is all right before you open it and it calls its web service for more info. (I use foobar2000 on Windows)
You don’t need to change your settings if you do that.
But I found no way to submit a bug report on the web service / lastfm client.

  • ILuvMus1c's suggestions works, thank you!
Will do this trick so I can still scrobble until Last.fm manages to fix the problem.

  • ILuvMus1c's solution works like a charm, thanks.
& now I'm getting this weird problem after uploading an image.

This is clearly the same problem the client has!

  • Hi all,

Just to let you know, we're aware of this problem now and will look into it. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon. Sorry for the trouble!

  • I'm going to assume that this is related.

Currently using ILuvMus1c's temporary fix but noticed that wave dashes are randomly deleted in the "Recently Listened Tracks" - however when the cursor hovers over them they still appear in the URL. They were showing up fine before now.

It looks like you just can't see the information on the scrobbler. If u open the client window and the download option is activated, it will mess up with the "????".
But if you keep this option active and DO NOT OPEN the client window, just let it on the system tray, it will scrobble all the info correctly (artist, song title and album)
almost 2min passed and the information stills correct

Thank you ILuvMus1c! Your temporary fix has defintiely worked! I'll make sure not to open the last.fm scrobbler window for the time being.

  • I have same problem! How can I fix?!

  • what is the official version?

what is the official version of this problem?

  • Another thing you can do is go to the page of the artist you wish to play and click the play radio button. It will then play that artist's radio in your browser. You don't have quite the same options and whatnot... but it looks to be scrobbling properly and gives you all the artist info. That's probably what I'll be doing until they can get this fixed.

  • I would like to thank ILuvMus1c too! He gave a good advice. But I still hope, that the complete solution of the problem will be done soon. This problem happens not only with characters, but also with the cyrillic letters.

I'm having the same issue with Cyrillic letters. However, I'd just like to thank Jhowkun, having tried that solution of sorts, it does work. Okay, so it means you have to do everything on the page rather than the client, but it's workable.

  • Same with me

  • ~ Love Button ~

It's me, or «Love» button in Scrobbler don't work for songs with japanese / korean characters in the title even with ILuvMus1c's solution? I can «love» songs with english titles just fine, but even though scrobbling works, I can't «love» songs with japanese / chinese / korean characters from the Scrobbler. When I use «Love» option on my Last.fm page everything is OK. It's annoying...

    I'm just a bothersome detective...

Гражданская Оборона now scrobbles, thanks to ILuvMus1c's suggestion. Weird error, though.

    Ben: what a loser
  • I'm experiencing the same problems with Hebrew, Greek and Russian characters.

  • At least I'm not the only one. God.

Unchecking 'Download artist images nad info' in the Connections, Tools tab, does indeed work but does not solve the problem completely.
It brings back the artist and track titles, but leaves the artist images blank. Therefore its not so great if you want to play Recommendations or your Mix Radio.

So its six of one and half a dozen of the other. I'm glad its not just me having the problem and hope Lastfm fixes the problem soon. Yet for now, all non-Roman tracks seem slightly doomed to the unknown...

kudos to ILuvMus1c for the temp. fix, and jesus2009 for pointing what could possibly be the problem - and that it scrobbles fine as long as you don't open the damn box.

    Jhowkun:
Even though the stand alone plug-in changes from correct information to ?s and what-nots when you open it, the hover box should still be the same ;-P

  • Same mistake here! I'll follow your advise and scrobble Japanese/non roman song titles without opening the client, just leaving it on the tray. Still, I hop this gets fixed soon or it will ruin so many artists and lists :(

Edit: it didn't work that way :( Not good enough, it would still appear as "???" even on the tray. Tried ILuvMus1c and it seems to be working. Waiting for the track to finish to check if it looks okay on the website.

@Sakura_20 I'm not sure how the plugin works, looks like it downloads the info on the sys tray for some users, and download the info only when the main windows is opened for others, really strange. ILuvMus1c solution will guarantee your tags ^^

@chsf I didn't noticed that XD but it worked for me, I kept the download info option actived just to keep verifying if the client is fixed or still shitting the tags xD

  • Yeah, just noticed the same problem with the band †††

Hopefully you can get this fixed soon.
