    Hello Last.fm!
Are there any news on any of the correction issues or on the release groups?

The newest update to the "Known Issues" thread still doesn't list any of these problems...

  • So this is common right? I couldn't figure out why my properly tagged Joan Jett songs were being scrobbled to some Greatest Hits thing..

  • Can someone from the staff comment on the current status please? The issue remains unsolved.

I hope this is the right thread for this... anyway, I have a problem.

I'm scrobbling an album by Green River called Dry As A Bone/Rehab Doll, and most of the songs scrobble just fine - excep for three of them, which no matter what I do, scrobble to the album Dry As A Bone/Rehab Doll by Soundgarden instead. I've tried deleting my scrobbles and changing my tags, turning off auto correction etc but nothing helps and this is driving me mad... Dry As A Bone/Rehab Doll isn't even an album by Soundgarden, wtf.

Is there any way to push these problems up the task list of the last.fm-improvement team?

  • I've noticed the problem many times, such as:
"The Gossip" Standing in the Way of Control instead of "Gossip" Standing In The Way Of Control
Some tracks scrobble to one, others to another. I tried removing the artist from my library and starting again, but the problem persists...

Just found out about this annoying problem, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Baby Be Mine, Human Nature and The Lady in My Life don't scrobble to Michael Jackson's Thriller album, but to Thriller albums by Vincent Price, Quincy Jones, etc.. Ok, I understand there are bigger problems in the world, but last.fm should at least update us on their plans concerning this issue, even if they choose to address lots of other stuff first.

It may seem quite a superfluous issue to some, but to me it seems like an intrinsic part of what Last FM is about. What's the point of having all these nice stats if they're so riddled with inaccuracies? What makes it even more frustrating is how illogical it is, because if you've named the music files exactly right and haven't got the autocorrect titles option ticked I don't understand why it's running into this peculiar problem.

Two that I've personally noticed are:

play counts being generated for this album 4Minutes Left when the only one that should be scrobbling is 4Minutes Left. Generally speaking, all the play counts for the artist 4 Minute should be auto-forwarded/corrected to 4minute; case in point the artist "4 Minute" has about 70,000 plays whereas the (correct) artist "4Minute" has just over 4 million...

The other is play counts for Dannii Minogue's "Neon Nights" album being curiously split between an album under her name as well as one for Various Artists, when it's the same album: here Neon Nights and here Neon Nights

Hope the Last FM can sort this problem soon.

    Another one

For some reason it looks like most (but not all) of the tracks on This Year's Model are scrobbling to This Year's Model. It is not showing up as an autocorrect or anything like that. This is a relatively recent development, as I have almost 200 plays under the former and less than 40 on the latter.

    And more...

When I scrobble some tracks from Real Girl, they pop up at Real Girl.

    Hi all,

I am new to this site but I've noticed a couple songs so far that are tagged something completely different than what it actually is. Such as David Bowie - Warszawa was actually an ambient track tagged wrong. In addition it said the song was from the album Control by Joy Division. This makes no sense and I'm wondering if there is a way we as users can help correct these mistakes.

    Thanks

I think some tracks from Audio Day Dream are scrobbling to Audio Day Dream, although it also looks like Blake Lewis featuring Lupe Fiasco has a redirect to Blake Lewis and therefore shouldn't...in any case, some of the tracks that seem to be scrobbling wrong definitely don't increase in play count under the album view when I play them.

The same issues exists with tracks from Daydream scrobbling to Daydream. There's a redirect from Mariah Carey feat. Boyz II Men to Mariah Carey that might be messing with it.

I can't seem to get this to work properly, but both Classified and Shine get scrobbled to albums with the same name by the artist "Bond+[ Artist ]" (no spaces in the actual brackets)

  • I, too, have a problem with this. Songs from Unquestionable Presence by Atheist sometimes scrobble to "Various Artists - Unquestionable Presence" as opposed to "Atheist - Unquestionable Presence". It feels completely random as well, making it all the more baffling.

In The Zone is now finally scrobbling to the correct album. The only downside is I'm not entirely sure what caused the change. I played another album last night where the misdirections I'd reported before are still occurring (The Rising).
