I loved it and me and my mates kept going 'fuck the bnp!' for like 2 weeks afterwards as a joke but i generally don't like 'em tbh. i loved Patrick Wolf, Akala, The View and the dance tentt! sick day :)

Most of the people there were stupid and apolitical, I was leafleting, and they'd be shouting 'FUCK THE BNP! and then I'd give them a leaflet about activism that's going on against the BNP and they'd throw it on the floor, this happened lots. Also, all you people who are complaining about violence by security, you obviously don't go to punk gigs. We have the police beating us up, though...

Good bad and the queen set blew me away. cool to see Jimmy from Sham69 there too. Great gig...and it was free. Admittedly though...all the love music - hate racism shouting got a wee bit tiring at the end but other than that - awesome gig for free!

yeah the whole point is we live in a democracy...its down to the general public just to be intellegent enough not to vote em

Badly organised. And you can hate the bnp, but the bloke who was saying they should be banned is an idiot.

superdoggy: That is terrible, unfortunately I didn't witness the incident. I hope everything is okay, and hopefully with the large amount of people there, someone should have witnessed it. Anyone?

Hi... i am in my 40's and got attacked in the dance tent at Victoria park around 1630 and lost consciousness. Did anyone witness it? I know 1 or 2 women helped me up and out but I suffered a concussion and wasn't able to thank them properly. I am having trouble walking today with a bad back etc. and wondered if anyone might be able to tell me wahat exactly happened to me. Thanks.

too much preaching but was a good event nevertheless..

My GOD, Patrick Wolf's set was amazing! More than worth my two broken toes :D I agree that the whole thing could have been better organised, especially with the times of bands and things - almost missed a few that I wanted to see. But overall I thought it was genius, great atmosphere for the most part, and all for a good cause, right?

    Kwiecień 2008
  • FleurFrancoise

Yes, poor organization indeed. They had to make a schedule of bands before hand anyway, right? So please also stick the times on the program so people know when to go see what. They will enjoy themselves better and eventually donate more money; it's a win win situation really. Other possible names for the festival: Love Hate, Hate Racism and Love Politics, Be Impartial towards Music, Hate Racis

  • Jordan_C_Darwin

Was very poorly organised, and some people I had no idea who they were and they sucked ass like the rapping dude. Also, why were people beaten up for like NO reason? Love Violence Hate Racism?

    Kwiecień 2008
  • JaimeChiens

yea .. the whole secuirty in the pit thing was soo bizarre. wasnt used to seeing security getting that violent.. literally pulling this kid by his hair. did anyone see the crazy fight during patrick wolf also?

    Kwiecień 2008
  • Phender1990

I basically got beaten up by security for dancing during the Paddingtons and the police said they couldn't do anything about it. Made the day much worse.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • watram

I absolutely agree with mxcl and tevesy! It's not like Labour were saints, is it? :P Well, I would rather forget about the politics.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • tevesy

The BNP are a political party who have a right to stand and if you don't like their policies oh well don't vote for them. If there's a fuck the BNP day why isn't fuck Labour day or whatever? These people reaaaaaly didn't understand the idea of a democracy.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • tevesy

wheeeeeey Paddingtons pit :D those security have clearly never ever seen a gig before. One of my friends cos put in a headlock and thrown on the ground for dancing. And I agree with mxcl saying fuck the BNP every 2 minutes doesn't make you a good person. Damon Albarn was clearly getting very annoyed by it.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • Jopzorz

yeah j-sin, i thought that. i expected a set-list in the programme or on site, but nothing :/

    Kwiecień 2008
  • mardyxbum

the view were amazing :) was getting really really squashed and nearly got my camera nicked but got some good pics, was well worth it. With the programmes, I think it would've been MUCH easier to have just gone down the list. Was at the front for hard fi aswell, wonder if LMHR borrowed Glasto's sound system.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • j-sin

Did anyone else think this was really badly organised? Even with buying the guide it was impossible to tell who was on at what time!

    Kwiecień 2008

Anyone know who this guy is ? http://www.flickr.com/photos/93717952@N00/2446354633/

The politics was disgusting. You don't fight hate with hate.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • m_anson

about the view and ppl shouting em off...i know i nearly decked someone cause of that lol i was there shouting the view the view the view are on fire and they seemed tothink it was funny to stay saying the view are shit:S oh well i think it was badly organised in my opinion

  • MisspeltYoof

Jaime, I think the band you're asking about was Natty.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • MrJona

and that happened TWICE! at least 10 security guards came in for that, the second time even some police men came over...

    Kwiecień 2008
  • MoshingPanda

The security in Paddingtons broke up the pit, man handled people out of it.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • Jopzorz

haha true, still a shame about the sound. the view wasn't too bad, but i couldn't hear hard-fi's vocals at all really AND i was at the front..

    Kwiecień 2008
  • watram

I know, but it got a bit better after The View's set because many people who were afraid of being squashed left XD

    Kwiecień 2008
  • Jopzorz

yeah there were loads of people at the main stage who didnt give a shit about half the bands, they just stood in the way with their umbrellas :/

    Kwiecień 2008
  • watram

Haha, what did the security do? The sad thing I have noticed is that there was a lot of unrespectable behaviour although it was meant to be an event about tolerance... the people screaming to The View and Helsinki to get off the stage were just pissing me off :/

    Kwiecień 2008
  • MoshingPanda

have to agree with MrJona mostly, but i enjoyed the politics but the security was weird, i was in that pit too :D

    Kwiecień 2008
  • MrJona

too political, security during paddingtons strangest thing ever, programme for 2 quid that doesnt state any times, but still quiet fun and definitely a nice sunday. get cape was great and the paddingtons as well.

    Kwiecień 2008

Prouders- Fionn Regan did one song with Helsinki. Not sure if it was one of his one (if so, it was new) or a cover but it was pretty great!

    Kwiecień 2008
  • watram

    Fionn Regan played with Drew&Friends.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • Jopzorz

JamieChiens - that's one guy, his name's natty. and today was awful at the main stage, worst sound quality ever :/ i watched the view and hard-fi and you couldn't hear either lead singer. plus there were too many posh twats with umbrellas getting in the way. i saw get cape on the side stage though, he was pretty good.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • Prouders

Did Fionn Regan play in the end? Did anyone see him? Ended up seeing Hard-Fi who were absolute gash. It was VERY political, a bit brainwashing at times. Still had a great time though.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • watram

It was all a bit too political for me but anyway... I spent most of the time watching the acts at the main stage but at the end I went to see Patrick Wolf at the side one and that was by far my favourite moment! :) I also very much enjoyed Drew & Friends and Bashy.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • tevesy

Also it wasn't exactly anti racism it was more anti BNP. And they were being well hypocritical saying such stupid things as 'The BNP are undemocratic they shouldn't be allowed to stand for election' and 'We are against using violence' and then security literally manhandling people illegally.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • tevesy

Security were absolute cunts during Paddingtons, and TGTB&TQ just turned into some rap thing it was extremely disappointing. And most ridiculous statement I have ever ever heard: 'There's no serious music anymore it doesn't mean anything.' Yeh whatever mate.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • JaimeChiens

does anyone know the name of the group that was on the side stage at around 3, 3:30? Before the Paddingtons. Sort of hip-hop/reggae...

    Kwiecień 2008
  • suedegambit

Thanks Jaime - I'm gutted I must say - but I was wet and cold and I live nearby so went for a change and umbrella. The view were great though.

    Kwiecień 2008
  • JaimeChiens

Hard-Fi was on at about 2:30.. i was also surprised that they didnt save them for the end...

    Kwiecień 2008
  • suedegambit

hey - I was there this afternoon but left the site for a while - was hard-fi on? I didn't see them and expected them to be on towards the end?

    Kwiecień 2008

it is on the site, it says noon-6pm. wish i knew the line-up and stuff. probably gonna get down there early to make sure.

Those of you that can get up a bit earlier can come on the march! If you've not been on one of these marches then have no fear cus they are a great way to get you in the mood and also a chance to shout rude things about the BNP candidates who are standing for Mayor and in City & East (and across the city) for assembly positions. http://www.lovemusichateracism.com/events/2008/04/27/anti-nazi-league
