TRASHFEST started as my birthday party in 2008. It included a bunch of bands from all the genres I like, from all around the world, in a tiny illegal poker bar (now defunct) in Mitte.

It started very early in the afternoon, but the police still came (in part due to the owner fucking some PopKomm tarts and forcing their awful band to play, in part to the awesome but completely unmuteable New Zealand band Batrider fucking shit up)... and shut the place down just before the Jimmy Trash band could play.

The 'infused' crowd had the spontaneous idea to relocate all of our gear into the Deutsches Theatre down the road and forced them to host our band. They did graciously, and my band played an anarchic set under crystal chandaliers while the audience drank cocktails. It was the type of drunken spontaneity that is unappreciatable in the moment.

For the second Trashfest I was determined not to let the same thing happen, so I hired the Raum 18 industrial unit in deep Neukölln. The event was exponentially larger, with a seperate dj room and happenings going on until the sun was way past the clouds. Israel's Charlie Megira and the Modern Dance Club tore the audience a new asshole, photos were taken for the BZ with me fucking my keyboard in a leapord skin miniskirt, and when we left after Krach der Roboter finished his drone masterpiece, there were more bodies passed out than alive. I was happy to not be responsible for cleaning up that mess afterwards.

So now it's that time of the year again, another year older and another hellish melangé to organise. (So far, lineup not yet confirmed) This year will headline with my favourite English band The Sticks, a monster mix of Devo and The Shaggs, my brother's band / teen idols Chuckamuck and Custom Culture veteran from Nu'orlins, DM Bob. Berlin's only other "good" Berlin band, Bikes (which includes members of Montreal garage rockers Hell Shovel), and a noisey set by the incredible circuit bending machine, Krach Der Roboter will also be performing.

My own band, Jimmy Trash and The Gunpowder Temple of Heaven, will also premiere as a 7 piece psychedelic orchestra, with new members from Charlie Megira and the Modern Dance Club and The Polymonsters.

The rest of the entertainment will be deftly dealt with by all types of carnival tents, including genuine freakshows, a performance by the vivid and violent artitsts N.A. Wolf and comedian David Deery. Tim Warren of Crypt Records will provide the tunes on the decks for the afterparty long into the morning light.

This Friday 8th October it's at Festsaal Kruezberg, and I cant fucking wait.
