ROBYN
http://robyn.com/
She is Robyn. The most killingest pop star on the planet. A pint-sized atom bomb dosed to the tits on electric and dispensing wisdom in three-minute modernist pop bulletins on the post-adolescent condition.
DJ ROKK

Rokk was born out of the London Electroclash scene in 2003 when
he took up his debut DJ residency at The COCK club night at Ghetto.
gleaning influence from the likes of Black Strobe, Legowelt and the Ghostly
International record label, he played a large part in formulating the club’s
signature synthetic vocal pop sound alongside celebrated scenesters,
Princess Julia and Tasty Tim whilst dedicating his daytime hours to being
an A & R man at Parlophone Records. After the sad demise of Ghetto
in 2006, he took up residency at Richard Mortimer’s now legendary club
night Boombox, which took Rokk and his records across the globe playing
to crowds in Lyon, Milan, Paris, Athens, New York and beyond. The
burgeoning reputation of Boombox amongst a new generation of East
London clubbers called for the release of a Boombox DJs compilation
album (Kitsune Recordings), which featured a track by French electro
duo Revolte who Rokk managed, and also a book chronicling the club’s
unique aesthetic through images and writings from Boombox regulars, so
influential was the club night.
Rokk has since had his name stamped on some of London's coolest
underground homo nightspots, providing DJ support for Swedish pop
prodigy Robyn, Pet Shop Boys, Gorillaz and Monarchy, and regularly
guests at club nights both internationally and across the UK. A
collaboration with Monarchy's Andrew Friendly resulted in a fine re-work of
Snap's Rhythm Is A Dancer released on Gulp Recordings in 2008 and
you will currently find Rokk hosting his own monthly club night, Body Talk,
at East London’s Dalston Superstore.
Arguably the busiest man in clubland, Rokk’s previous incarnation as A&R
man for Parlophone Records saw him commission remixes for Gorillaz,
Supergrass, Jamelia, Lily Allen, Pet Shop Boys, Queen and Kylie as well
as playing a large part in track selection and album content for major
international artists. With his magical mixing fingers firmly inserted into
both fashion and music pies, Rokk has also worked with well-known
fashion designer Marios Schwab for the past 6 seasons, producing music
for his London and Paris Fashion Week shows.
A talented photographer and video producer in his own right, Rokk (aka
Paul Bryan) has worked with the likes of Bella Freud and Tilda Swinton,
has produced a music promo for Digitalism and his photographic work can
be seen on the walls of Dalston Superstore. A solo photography show is
also in the pipeline. Having named her recent album after his Body Talk
club night, rumours of Robyn and Rokk working on a project together early
next year abound - in what capacity they’re happy to keep us guessing,
but with their prodigious creative vision combined, it’s certain to be worth
the wait.
With no less than three Kylie remixes (with fellow dj/producer Pixel 82)
and a celebrated Robyn bootleg under his belt, he's now in the studio
working on his own material. Teaming up with London based poet Dean
Atta, having been impressed by Atta’s spoken word track ‘Young, Black
and Gay’, Rokk felt compelled to set the poem and more importantly, it’s
political message, to music and in doing so has delivered a chunky house
track fondly reminiscent of the original house music from his formative
years. Freshit Records heard the track earlier this year and immediately
signed Rokk for a three single deal. ‘YBG feat. Dean Atta’ will be released
this year.
