Oh shit, what an embarrassing concert. When did Boredoms loose their balls? The most uninspired use of multiple drummers imaginable. Most of the time they were playing the same beat, which often sounded *worse* than with one drummer, since the transients get smeared and the groove gets blurred. I was also surprised that it was pretty straightforward dance music. This would be ok, but there was a total lack of musicality in building energy/tension. Ultimately it was simply boring. Eye's vocals were also embarrassingly lame, consisting mostly of pointless dance-music shout-outs, repeated in a looping fashion. Also, the guitar-wall was possibly the most idiotically gimmicky thing I have ever seen - inferior to a real guitarist in every way. I had to leave around half way through to catch my train, but I was actually glad to leave. Totally style over substance.

Review and photos in Polish magazine PopUp http://www.popupmusic.pl/no/26/galerie/163/boredoms-performing-boadrum The review is in Polish, but the pictures speak for themselves, I hope. It was worth a trip from Warsaw. Enjoy

I assume it's because they are obliged by the venue to open the doors early so they can get some beers sold. to be fair, they did at least announce beforehand that it was just gonna be a DJ.

Absolutely fantastic concert, but worst opening ever. I mean, what's the point of open the doors at 7 and have a DJ for 2 hours? Yes, a very nice selection: Animal Collective, Fuck Buttons, Neu!, etc. but shit! 2 hours! It was... er... total boredom! :D

You guys think the show will end at 2300 or earlier? Do you know how long they usually play? If they only finish at 2300 I'm going to miss the end :(

Although to be fair it's probably a bit of a logistical headfuck setting up for 9 drummers so I guess a DJ is probably about all they could fit in.

In the picture on the ATP website there are 9 people, so possibly 8 drummers. It will be incredible however many drummers they have!

(Now I'm gonna wait for someone to pedantically point out that they have played a three-drummer Boadrum set)

To be pedantic (which, let's be honest, seems to be the main reason for the internet's existence), they've only used the Boadrum title when there are more than the 3 core drummers performing, since 3 is not really enough to establish yer snake. Hence the mystery surrounding what this show will be (presumably more than 3 drummers). That said, having seen them play a few times with 3 drummers, I've gotta say it was quite enough (and, yeah, I'm a bit worried that more might actually equal less musically).

Well put - although I'd say that on nude with boots the drums do actually take center stage over Buzz. Still, I retract my comment. 3 drummers is plenty... too many if anything :).

But the percussion element in the Melvins does not take centre stage, they're vital, yes, but primarily their songs are spear-headed by brutal guitar assaults and Buzzo's trademark squalid vocals. After all, he writes the vast majority of their material and he's not exactly a drummer. The Boredoms, on the other hand, have in recent years been taking an approach where the focus and primary driving force behind their sounds rests on the drums, with everything else used being peripheral by comparison. So as long as the drums are what are defining the sound, should the quantity of drumkits really matter if the name 'boadrum' is to be fitting?

hahaha, obviously not much respect due then. But seriously, 3 drummers doesn't seem enough for a show with 'drum' in the title. Melvins had 4 at ATP10 and they didn't feel the need to call it houdrumni.

Come on kids, don't be stupid, you know it's going to blow yr fucking minds to smithereens. Even if there are 'only' three drummers, no mercy will be shown. And be realistic: Kentish Town Forum is not a large venue. So unless they end up optimising the main area to accommodate whatever mad whim Mr. eYe inclines towards, expect a very focused albeit intense asault.

I'd like to see Konono no.1 support. Actually, I'd like to see them on stage together..
